Clutch is a mechanism used to connectpower unit with gearbox and its subsequent detachment. If this device comes to malfunction, the normal movement of the car will already be impossible. Basically, the serviceability and operating state of this mechanism depends on the drive. The latter ensures the normal functioning of the clutch system, namely, remotely affects the basket (pressure plate) by pressing the appropriate pedal in the car. The composition of this device includes a clutch slave cylinder, which is also an important part in the operation of the drive. And today we will talk about it in detail.
At the moment there are several types of drives:
- Mechanical.
- Hydraulic.
The first drive is most often used on carscars. Its distinctive feature is the simplicity of design and the low cost of maintenance. The clutch slave cylinder is not included in it. The mechanical drive has at its disposal only 4 devices:
- clutch pedal;
- Freewheel mechanism;
- a cable of a drive of coupling;
- lever transmission.
As for the hydraulic mechanism, its structure contains the following elements:
- clutch pedal and connecting pipelines;
- a tank of a working liquid;
- including the main and working clutch cylinders.
In general, this tool is a compositepart of the hydraulic drive, the task of which is to take the effort coming from the master cylinder. Also, the clutch slave cylinder performs the function of moving the system shut-off fork with the thrust bearing. This mechanism is located on the clutch housing.
How do I know if the car needs to replace the clutch slave cylinder?
First of all, the failure of the clutch pedal can signal the breakdown of the device. Also it is worth paying attention to the working cylinder, if the pedal has a suspiciously soft stroke.
Brief instruction on replacement
Fortunately, the design of this mechanismfundamentally does not differ from other cars. The clutch slave cylinder of the 2107th VAZ has practically the same device as the "Ford" of the 1980s.
- First you need to put the car on the inspection pit.
- Next, detach the spring and use a pair of pliers to remove the cotter pin from the end of the pusher.
- Using the carabiner wrench, detach the fixing of the hose end in the cylinder plug.
- With the spanner key, the 2 bolts that secure the faulty mechanism to the clutch housing must be removed.
- Then it is necessary to disconnect the cylinder from the hose by rotating the part with your hands. If necessary, you can use a car key.
- After this, you urgently need to put a new part on the hose to reduce the loss of brake fluid to zero.
- We mount all the parts back and pump the hydraulic drive system.
