The mystery of the poem "Autumn has come, the flowers have dried up"

"Осень наступила, высохли цветы" - одно из самых famous poems about autumn, which lives in the childhood memories of many Russian people. This is not surprising, because its structure is very simple. Such a creation is easy to perceive even for small children: it evokes in their imagination primitive images of autumn. The verse “Autumn has come, the flowers have dried” is published in children's books on literature and always under the authorship of Plescheev. It is worth noting that poems of the same structure are often found in various children's magazines and poetry books: it is easy for children to learn them by heart, thus training their memory and developing artistic taste. In the poem "Autumn has come, the flowers have dried up" there are only laconic forms: the size of the three-stop trochee with the alternation of the female and male endings (stress in the first line is on the penultimate syllable; and in the second, on the last).

Literary scholars have unfounded doubts about the poem

which I have devoted this article. The fact is that this creation was not included in any of the collections of works by Alexey Nikolaevich Pleshcheyev. Hence the reasonable question: "Is he the author of the poem?" I will not flinch if I say: "The probability is great that the children gave glory to the wrong creator." Having studied the work of Alexey Nikolaevich Pleshcheyev, I realized that autumn was a sad occasion for him: he saw only wilt in it. This is not contrary to the theme of the poem "Autumn has come, the flowers have dried." Making a conclusion from this observation, it can be argued that there is one reason to think of him as the author of this work.

On the other hand, an unknown poet could intentionallyto imitate Pleshcheyev's relation to autumn, and the simple form of his poems. But who and why needed to do this? Maybe someone really wanted his work, too, read, as read many of the works of the famous poet; or was it a random typo in the compilation of a collection of children's literature, in which the verse “Autumn has come, the flowers have dried” was first published. The author is a mystery to me, as I think for many others. It is worth paying attention to the content of the poem, which, unlike other works by Plescheyev, has a scanty semantic focus. Such poems most often belong to inexperienced poets who tend to imitate the work of more famous authors. Superficial perception of a poem by an inexperienced reader can be a cause of approval. The verse at first glance seems figurative, simple and beautiful. If the reader will pay attention to its emotional content, then it will give him only a scant and depressive view of nature.

Mikhail Zolotonosov

В своем труде на эту тему Михаил Золотоносов claims that the author of the poem is none other than a writer of an Orthodox textbook on literature. The book was compiled by Aleksey Baranov, an inspector of the Moscow school district, and published in 1885. It was in this collection of Russian literature that the verse “Autumn came, the flowers dried out” was first published. Based on the opinion of a professional and my own guesses, I recognize the likelihood of false authorship of this poem. There is no reason to believe that there is credible evidence of who the author is.
