The post-war March 1946 turned out to be difficult forcountries - world leaders. The Second World War demolished from the map powers that had a great influence in the world, and in the first place came the states that did not play a significant role before.
For whom was Fulton speech intended?
Послевоенная Англия потеряла былое влияние в мире and no longer played a key role in the international arena. But the United States and the Soviet Union continued to fight for primacy in the world. And on March 5, 1946, the Prime Minister of England Winston Churchill made, as he later put it, "the main speech in his life", which has since been called the Fulton speech. It focused on the need to unite English-speaking states for the sake of peace in the world. The Prime Minister supported and recognized democratic states, and countries with other regimes of government, in his opinion, demanded an urgent reformation. According to him, the English-speaking nations must unite for the common good.
USA is the most suitable option:advanced state of the world, armed with military innovations, having a powerful economy, which almost did not suffer during the war. Another important detail: the state language of the United States is also English. Taking advantage of this coincidence, Churchill skillfully linked this fact with the need to unite with the United States. Two equivalent powers on the world stage could not coexist peacefully, anyway, someone had to be the first. A prime example is the arms race.
It is Fulton speech, delivered on March 51946, marked the beginning of the Cold War, which lasted more than 40 years and almost turned into the Third World War. The arms race and the struggle for primacy inflamed the situation. US President Ronald Reagan will later call this speech historic because it marked the beginning of peace throughout the world. But JV Stalin declared that this speech directly calls on other nations to war against the USSR. Churchill he put on a par with Hitler and questioned his peaceful intentions.
And today, every nation interprets this speech.in their own way. The history of the West blesses it as calling for peaceful coexistence, but domestic history claims that it was the Fulton speech that initiated the Cold War and presented the USSR as the world aggressor.
