Rigorism is strict observance of laws andestablished norms, without the right to make a mistake, adamant adherence to principle, not perceiving someone else's opinion, any other principles that differ from the original ones. This phenomenon occurs quite often. Rigorism is a requirement for complete and absolute submission to the rules. In some cases, even contrary to common sense, reason, expediency and logic. This is a transition from dignity to lack, but somewhere, rigorism in an easy degree can have a positive impact.
Examples of rigorism:
- The Communists.
- Religious communities.
- Military service.
Philosophy
The first to discover rigorism in philosophy is the famousthe German scientist I. Kant. In his opinion, a person should strive for an ideal, guided by the rule: "Do good and do not do evil." Quite correct views, is not it? Maybe. But man is a man. Blindly following the principles, he forgets the purpose of his actions.
Religion
Let's look at this on a concrete example -rigorism in religion. The more a person follows the highest rules blindly, the better he feels. However, any deviation from norms leads to unacceptable sin, sin leads to hell, and hell is the worst thing that a believer fears. So, a person is ready to give up any of his own attitudes, to coordinate each action with the norms of his religion, if only not to anger God. In this case it will be absolutely unimportant what this behavior on the Earth will lead to, most importantly - to avoid fire after death. Such attitudes destroy individuality, but pedantry and blind adherence to principles are excellent.
Thus, rigorism is the destruction of thereligion. After all, taking the rules of their faith for the standard and following them, without thinking about the correctness of their actions, a person risks losing true faith. Religion has never promoted rigorism. On the contrary, every way of believing in God speaks about the freedom of mankind. The same trend can be made in philosophy. Pointlessly following one theory (for example, Kant's theory), without taking into account other versions, everyone risks losing his own self.
freedom
Rigorism is the extension of dignity.Negation of the rules, as well as 100% compliance with them, leads to an exceptional destruction of one's own opinion. Rigorist obsessed with the idea of his principles and forgets that there is much more around around than the framework in which he has driven himself. Everyone is free, we set the limits ourselves, but, having learned to make compromises and seek the "golden mean", we can become free and independent.
