CrysisThis word is much more than just the name of the shooter. This game always receives an honorary title in the nomination "Best Graphics". Each new part sets the next bar that all game designers are guided by when creating their new projects. At the very beginning of the creation of the game, the developers hinted that the Crysis 3 system requirements would bring any PC to its knees. Several years have passed already, and the maximum settings for the quality of the game are still not subject to every computer.
Graphics, Graphics, and Once Again Graphics
Start describing any game with its graphicopportunities - wrong. But the game Crysis 3 is a special case. It is the most powerful graphic part on the day of release that has always been discussed by gamers in the first place. And I must say that not in vain. Of course, the second part of the game was primarily focused on the console, but in the third game dev accounted most of their mistakes.
Crysis 3 looks great. And no other word can describe its graphics. Even if there was nothing in the game but the last one, it would be worth it to launch, only to enjoy the look. Weapons, world, effects, heroes - everything is done very beautifully and as carefully as possible. Gusts of wind sway thick grass, light waves disperse along the expanse of water, rays of light, breaking through the crown of trees, create an interweaving of shadows on the ground, dozens of glare and reflections adorn the trunk of the machine, and the main characters seem alive. Having made the most advanced engine at the time the game was released, the designers created an amazingly beautiful sci-fi world. From time to time you can forget about the battle and just admire it, indignant that the enemies do not allow it for too long.
Payment for the standard
It’s logical that for the visual componentyou have to pay dearly - the Crysis 3 system requirements are impressive, even considering the fact that the game came out a long time ago by the standards of the gaming community. On ultra-settings, the picture eats up all the resources and asks for more. On video cards that do not support DX11, Crysis 3 does not start. And all because even at the lowest quality settings the game produces a picture that can plug most modern virtual entertainments into a belt.
Flaws or nitpicking?
Of course, with great desire, you can in Crysis 3find and many shortcomings. When they die, enemies sometimes take such unnatural poses that even a seasoned yogi will be surprised. From time to time, there are so many effects on the screen at the same time that beyond their veil it is impossible to see everything else. Someone complains about the lack of destructibility. But, the right word, these quibbles are ineffective. The third part of Crysis has clearly demonstrated what the new generation of games will be like, becoming the next benchmark in the quality of graphics, which many cannot reach even two years after the release of it.
Crysis 3 system requirements
It's time to finish singing laudatory odes to the picture (after allbeauty and aesthetics are felt individually) and go to dry numbers and technical details. I must say right away that the game can only work on Windows 7, 8, Vista. On earlier versions, Crysis 3 does not start. So, to show the aliens where the crayfish hibernate, at the lowest quality settings you will need:
- Video card with mandatory support for DX11 and 1 GB of memory on board.
- 2 GB of RAM.
- A dual-core processor, such as the C2D E6600 (or Athlon64 5200+).
To increase the level of detail to the middle, you will need:
- A video card with mandatory DX11 support with 1 GB of memory on board.
- 4 GB of RAM.
- Quad-core processor, such as Core i3-530 (or PhenomX2 565).
Finally requirements for ultra-quality:
- A video card with mandatory DX11 support with 2 GB of memory on board.
- 8 GB of RAM.
- The latest quad-core processor, such as the Core i7-2600k (or Bulldozer FX4150).
Theoretical requirements in practice
Как написано выше, для комфортной игры в Crysis 3 you will need a computer in which four gigabytes of RAM and a video card equipped with at least two gigabytes of video memory will be installed. The Crytech product has placed the highest demands on the graphics accelerator. The maximum quality settings, even on the top models of video cards, could not give an acceptable level of FPS (frames per second) at a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
The main factor that more than others reducesvideo subsystem performance - multiple sampling of anti-aliasing (in the game settings it is called MSAA). After its activation, FPS on any video card drops at least twice. It turns out that the system requirements of Crysis 3 cannot be satisfied by any modern graphics accelerator. Of course, if you turn on the FXAA lighting mode, the game’s resource consumption will decrease, but the picture quality will also “sink”.
I must say that graphics cards are mediumthe price range could not cope with ultra-settings even when disabling MSAA. With a fixed resolution of 1920 x 1080, a comfortable FPS was observed only in the oldest models, but at the same time overclocked. Resolution 2560 x 1600 is absolutely unattainable.
It can be decided that a high load onthe video system does not affect the choice of the central processor. But devices with different numbers of cores have different effects on game performance. The developers of the engine added a lot of optimizations for multiprocessor systems, so it can be considered logical that the number of cores is proportional to the number of FPS on the screen. Summing up, we can say that even if you downloaded Crysis 3 for free, all the same, to enjoy all the beauties, you will have to lay out a lot of banknotes to upgrade your computer.
PC vs consoles
As you know, three versions of Crysis 3 have been released -for PC, XBOX and PS3. For owners of the last two, the question of system requirements disappears by itself. However, if you compare the quality of the graphics, it must be said that here the PC wins an unconditional victory. Even the minimum settings are ahead of the quality of the game version for game consoles. And this is the logic. By publishing Crysis for consoles, developers were severely limited by their specifications.
