Lydia was born on July 8, 1937 in Leningrad.Mother brought up the girl - Maria Gordeevna, because her father Richard Germanovich died before the war. Lida has been involved in singing and music since childhood: she studied at a music school, played the piano, and sang in the school choir.

The stepfather — an architect by training — also agreed with his wife. Therefore, Lida, having listened to the opinion of her own people, gave in and in 1955 became a student at the Civil Engineering Institute. It was during her student years that Lida started a family with musician Boris Shafranov.
Lydia's creative career
Music accompanied the girl and in the years of study:she performed in student jazz. After graduating from the institute, Lydia Richardovna Klement got a job as a designer, and she continued her performances with the variety orchestra of the DK im. Ordzhonikidze administered by Naum Temkin. Most of all, the audience liked the song “Nevsky Mist” performed by a young singer. Work on the specialty lasted until the moment of maternity leave, after which Lida had not returned to engineering activity. She was not interested in the drawings and drawing paper; the girl was looking for ways of creative self-realization.
