At the moment, the ceiling tile does not have the reputation of such an exquisite coating, which, however, does not prevent it from continuing to use consumer demand. Due to its low cost and ease of execution of finishing works, as well as excellent performance and excellent appearance, tile allows for budget repair and significantly improve the ceiling surface. Therefore, the question of how to glue tiles on the ceiling, today is very relevant for any home craftsman.
The range of ceiling tiles is quite wide anddiverse, so no difficulty in choosing a coating usually does not arise. The ceiling tile differs by color, pattern and texture. As for the color shades, there are a great many: from the classic white to the color imitating the wooden surface. It is also very easy to choose the picture according to your taste, and the choice of texture completely depends on the purpose of the room where the tile is glued. So, for example, it is better to glue glossy tiles in kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, as it is better cleaned, and matte tiles will decorate living spaces.
Before you glue the tiles, you mustprepare the ceiling surface. In principle, the tile does not require an ideal base. It is enough to clean the ceiling from whitewash, old paint, dirt or grease, and then carefully treat it with a primer. You can glue over the ceiling tile to almost any solid surface: concrete, plasterboard, wood, and plastered.
Strict rules on how to glue tileson the ceiling does not exist. There are three ways of sticking tiles: at an arbitrary angle, diagonally and in a straight line. It is possible to start glueing tiles from the center (the so-called symmetrical pasting method) or from the most prominent wall (an asymmetric method).
How to glue tiles in a straight line?There is nothing difficult in this process. Enough along the wall, which is best seen from the front door, draw a straight line that will allow you to correctly position the first row of tiles. It is from this line that the pasting should begin.
As for the glue, the choice of it on the marketbig enough, but it's best to glue the tiles on the "liquid nails." This glue does not require exposure time, the tile can be glued immediately after applying glue on it and - most importantly - it should not be held. It is glued to the ceiling almost instantly. Apply "liquid nails" around the perimeter of the entire surface of the tile, if desired, you can add a little glue to its middle. First, according to the intended line, the first row of tiles is laid out. Then the second, third, and so on, to the opposite wall. If the last row requires trimming, it can be done with a regular or clerical knife.
How to glue tiles diagonally?First you need to find the center of the room. To this end, stretch two cords from opposite corners of the room - the place of their intersection will be the middle. Then from the middle two perpendicular lines are drawn. The first tile is glued strictly in the center and in such a way that its corners are aligned with the painted axes. She also will serve as a guideline for all subsequent tiles. The process of pasting itself is identical to the previous one, the only difference is that you will have to cut the tiles around the perimeter of the entire room, which requires additional time.
At the end of the installation, all the gaps between the wall and the ceiling tiles are closed with a special decorative plinth, which is also mounted on “liquid nails”.
It is quite obvious that some knowledge of howcorrectly glue the ceiling tile is not enough. The presence of practical skills, at least minimal, also does not hurt. But, as they say, not the gods burn pots, as, indeed, do not glue and tile.
