The story of Riva began much earlier.eighties. Its prototype, VAZ-2101, which can be called a restyled version of the Fiat 124, was released in 1970. The model lineup of the Lada Riva today includes several cars: the VAZ-2105 sedan, the VAZ-2104 hatchback and the VAZ-2107.

In Russia, the above models of the WHA are considered different cars belonging to the same family, which is unofficially called "classic."

On the technical side of the car Lada Rivaalmost identical to the first generation Fiat model. Lada inherited from its predecessor the same equipment for the engine, gearbox, shock absorbers and aluminum drum brakes for the rear-wheel drive.

However, the main technical restyling camefor the 90s. It was then, in order to keep up with the political upheaval of the whole country, progressive technical revolutions of the model of the domestic car were made, which was supplemented by an injection engine and a catalyst for the muffler.

Strict political regime and tighteningsafety led to the disappearance in 1997 of the Lada Riva from the Western European automotive markets. At the same time, the production of the model line in Russia continued to function on the basis of AvtoVAZ.

In 2005, the production model was dividedbetween several companies. One part of the production was transferred to the territory of the Izhevsk Automobile Plant, and the other part was distributed between the Bogdan Group, the Lutsk plant, ZAZ, as well as Suzuki’s Factory.

A few years ago in the uk a carLada Riva has become one of the most popular budget cars. Riva never claimed to be the market leader, but it still was, despite the presence of such competitors as the Ford Sierra, Vauxhall Cavalier and Austin Montego.

В начале 90-х Riva по-прежнему пользовалась popularity among the British, but in the next few years, with the advent of new low-end models from manufacturers such as Skoda, Hyundai, Kia and Proton, its sales have plummeted.

The situation has worsened the need for largeinvestment to adapt Lada Riva cars to more stringent environmental regulations of the European Union. This led to a decision according to which Lada Riva cars were withdrawn from the car markets of Great Britain, Canada and a number of other European countries.

A few years later, the Finnish importer releasedmodifications included in the Riva lineup, including the Riva Signet, Riva 1200, Riva 1300, Riva 1500 and Riva 1600 models in the E and L class grades, as well as the Lada 2107 Turbo hybrid turbocharged model.
