The drug "Ketonal" (cream) is awhite homogeneous mass and is intended exclusively for external use. The main active ingredient in the cream is ketoprofen, and additional ones are white petrolatum, sorbitan, fatty acid ester, methylhydroxybenzoate, propylene glycol, isopropyl myristate, magnesium sulfate, propylhydroxybenzoate, polyethylene glycol-45dodecylglycol and purified water.
The drug "Ketonal" (cream) is assigned asa remedy for external use in the event of muscle or joint pain. The effect of this cream is due to the fact that there is an inhibition of the synthesis of leukotrienes and prostaglandins, which inhibits the activity of the enzyme cyclooxygenase and, to some extent, lipoxygenase.
The medicine "Ketonal" (cream) works well forthe presence of arthritis and extra-articular rheumatism and can be used as a monopoly medicine or as part of complex therapy. The drug significantly weakens the pain syndrome that occurs with sports injuries of the joints and soft tissues. The drug does not penetrate into the systemic bloodstream, so there are practically no systemic effects. The medicine excretes along with the urine in this case, the presence of insignificant renal insufficiency, age and cirrhosis of the liver for the removal of this agent is practically not affected.
Ketonal (cream) - instructions for use
The use of this cream is effective in the presence of diseases such as extra-articular rheumatism, arthritis, pain syndrome, inflammation of the joints and soft tissues, post-traumatic pains.
To apply a medicine "Ketonal" (a cream) it is necessary onthe affected area of the skin by gentle rubbing, is sufficient for two times throughout the day. The amount of the drug will depend on the size of the lesion. After applying the cream, no tightening bandages should be applied.
Side effects
After applying this preparation, it is possiblethe appearance of such negative consequences as reddening and itching of the skin, hives, anomalous photosensitivity reaction, anaphylactic shock, dermatitis, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, skin necrosis, purpura. The cardiovascular system can respond with the appearance of swelling.
Contraindications for use
It is impossible to apply a cream "Ketonal" at the raised or increasedindividual sensitivity to ketoprofen, salicylates and other NSAIDs, as well as erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, which are in the acute stage, severe liver and kidney diseases, with a tendency to bleeding, during breastfeeding, and up to the age of 15 years.
It is not recommended to apply the cream to open wounds that are formed due to eczema, dermatosis or mechanical damage to the skin.
Cases of overdose
Serious cases of cream overdose "Ketonal"not registered. It's just not possible that the drug gets on the mucous membranes. Especially in the eyes. In the event that the skin remains traces of the use of the cream, treatment with its use should be discontinued.
During the treatment with this cream and for two weeks after its cessation it is necessary to be protected from sunlight on the affected areas.
In the last trimester of pregnancy,cream is contraindicated, since it can delay delivery and lead to the onset of pulmonary hypertension in a child, and in the rest of the period it should be used cautiously and only under the supervision of an experienced specialist.
At present, there is no information on the effect of Ketonal cream on psychophysical function.
Although the drug and very weakly penetrates throughskin, taking it together with medications that contain methotrexate, can not be, since in this case the rate of excretion of methotrexate is significantly reduced and its toxic effect is intensified.
