Gas gangrene is a fairly rare infectiousdisease. Anaerobic bacterium that causes an illness enters the human body during surgical operations or through skin lesions. It is found most often in the deep wounds of the extremities, the uterus and the abdominal cavity. Usually gas gangrene actively develops on the blood-deprived areas of the tissue. With timely detection and treatment of the disease, 80% of patients survive. However, if the abdominal cavity is affected by the disease, the predictions may not be so encouraging.
Causes of gangrene
The disease-causing bacteria normally live inthe microflora of the organs of the urino-genital system and the intestine, and they can also be found in the soil. The disease is activated as a result of the entry of microbes into open wounds resulting from injuries, or during surgical manipulation.
Symptoms of the disease
Gas gangrene leads to inflammation of the subcutaneoustissues. The pronounced signs of an ailment become noticeable 73 hours after surgery or injury. The main symptom of the disease is a cracking caused by the accumulation of hydrogen and carbon dioxide in the dead tissues. Also, with gangrene, discoloration of the affected skin (red or dark brown hue), swelling, severe pain, blisters, necrosis, blood clots, unpleasant odor, watery or foamy discharge may occur.
In addition, there may be side effects:signs of infection of blood, rapid breathing, palpitation, low blood pressure, stably high temperature (within 38.3 °). Patients with gas gangrene become inactive, pale, exhausted, anxious, some have a loss of consciousness.
Gas gangrene causes instant death,which quite often occurs at the time of the operation aimed at removing dead tissue areas. In some cases, before the death of the patient falls into a coma. Sometimes, vomiting, cardiovascular failure and profuse diarrhea may occur.
Diagnosis of gangrene
The disease is determined by examining the wound site. With the help of an X-ray, the presence of gas in the tissues is revealed, and a blood test reveals the presence of an infectious agent in the body.
Gas gangrene: treatment
The first task is to remove the affected tissuesurgically. Treatment should be started immediately if the first signs of the disease are found, since even a small delay can cost a person's life. The patient is administered a large amount of penicillin and oxygen therapy is used. With the goal of preventing gangrene and preventing tissue necrosis, it is necessary to implement all possible measures aimed at restoring the disturbed blood circulation as soon as possible.
Traditional medicine recommends the following remedies for the treatment of the disease:
- Prepare a decoction of dried Tartar (threeliter of water 1.5 cup dried plant). After the product boils, leave it for 30 minutes to infuse, then dilute with warm water and dip the broth into the broth for 30 minutes;
- Take the crumb of freshly baked black bread, salt it well and chew. Apply a thick layer of chewed bread on the affected area and tie this place;
- fresh beef liver, not washing in water,attach to a sore spot. Hold it until it is on the sick area below it. do not form watery bubbles. Pierce the abscess with a sterilized needle fluid. After that, attach the liver again. Make attachments as often as possible;
- Young coniferous shoots finely cut. Pour 5 tablespoons of the plant with 500 ml of water, boil the broth and cook it for 10 minutes. Pour the product into the thermos bottle and leave it there for 12 hours. Drink the broth daily.
