The entire system includes the ABS sensors themselves (sensorswheel speeds), a control module (it carries out processes for monitoring and coordinating processes in active and passive modes), brake calipers, pressure relief valves and hydraulic actuators.
Works ABS sensor, as well as the entire system,in the following way. When the driver presses the brake pedal in the hydraulic brake system, pressure is generated. It does so that the pads are pressed to the discs using brake calipers, and this process contributes to stopping the machine. If the ABS sensor suddenly detects that one of the wheels slows down faster than the others, the braking effect on the wheel is automatically reduced. This is due to the opening of the pressure relief valve in the hydraulic system. The ABS sensor, and the entire system as a whole, responds to the situation very quickly and can work 6-20 times per second. The reaction can extend either only to the front or to all four wheels: it all depends on the model of your car.
The main advantage of the ABS is not that itallows you to reduce the braking distance, although this, of course, is a huge plus (however, there are exceptions, when on ice and with spikes the braking distance, on the contrary, increases). The beauty of this system is that it allows you to continue driving while you are desperately trying to brake. If you do not have this system, then during a strong braking the wheels of the car will be locked, and even at the slightest turn of the steering wheel you will spin in at high speed. And this prospect is not pleasant. The ABS system will not allow wheel locking to occur, and you will be able to avoid loss of control and quite safely go around the obstacle that has arisen.
However, such a system is not eternal, and sooner or laterYou will need to repair the ABS sensor. This can be done in any service station. Or you, of course, can make repairs yourself. But do not undertake this business if you have absolutely no experience in car repairs. If you, of course, at least a little value your four-wheel mate. After all, different cars have everything arranged differently, and what your friend or neighbor does when repairing your car may not suit you at all. Although, perhaps, for you it is very simple and not difficult. Well, it's your business. And the car too. You decide how to deal with it.
It does not hurt to periodically diagnoseall systems of the machine, not only the ABS, so that you have no surprises on the way. It is better to spend some time checking the work of all the "organs" of your car, rather than reproaching yourself later for taking the time and not doing something that would help avoid unpleasant and sometimes sad situations.
