Novosibirsk hippodrome: history of creation
Since hippodromes were created in almost alllarge settlements, then Novosibirsk was no exception. True, there is a funny creation story. Then the city was called Novo-Nikolaevsk. At the beginning of the 20th century, residents actively complained to the local authorities about a large number of horse owners who did not control their animals. It was like this: the owners of the trotters wanted to find out whose pet is the most frisky, and staged running right on the streets of the city. It was risky, and the townspeople suffered from it. Wealthy merchants made the purchase of expensive horses with their hobbies. Pets were acquired in Central Russia and brought to Novo-Nikolaevsk. As a result, when the horse fled briskly down the street, passers-by were frightened or fell under hoofs.
Therefore, in 1903 the Tomsk governor Polyakovsuggested using the river Ob as a running circle. There was only one problem: it was encased in ice only in winter. The remaining seasons made it unsuitable for use. Therefore, in 1912 it was decided to build a hippodrome.
What did the hippodrome (Novosibirsk) look like?
Originally the hippodrome was located in the center.cities in Tatar Slobodka. The territory was protected by a fence, made one stable and cartwright, a shed for harnesses of horses and a rostrum for spectators. At the initial stage, the horses were not kept on the racetrack, they were only brought before the races. It was a beautiful sight. So, the hippodrome (Novosibirsk) becomes a popular place among citizens and receives the status of a state institution in 1922.
