Not far from the capital, if you move from it tonorth, Klyazminskoe reservoir is located - one of the largest artificial reservoirs of the Moscow region. It exists in the current coastal outlines since 1937 and was formed as a result of the construction of the Pirogov hydroelectric complex on the Klyazma River. This is a part of the general hydraulic system of the Moscow Canal, stretching across the territory of the Mytishchi and Khimki districts. It was intended Klyazminskoe reservoir to ensure sustainable water supply of Moscow, as well as to maintain acceptable for navigation water level in the Moscow River. In addition, the reservoir has some hydropower potential, the water supply in it ensures the functioning of the Skhodnenskaya hydroelectric power station and several hydropower stations of local importance.

But for many Muscovites and guests of the capital thisthe pond was and remains a popular destination for Sunday country holidays. And this is not surprising. The coast of the Klyazmensk reservoir stretches for more than sixteen kilometers, and there is where to stay. At the time of the creation of this reservoir, in the thirties of the last century, its purpose was purely functional. But today, the Klyazminskoe reservoir has a highly developed infrastructure for tourism and recreation, located along the entire coast. Some of its objects were formed quite a long time ago and have a rich history. The most famous recreation areas include such as Gorki and Khlebnikovo, as well as the Troitskoe recreation center.

From the Moscow ring road reservoirseparates the distance of just five kilometers along the Dmitrovskoe highway. It is by the Moscow Ring Road that the easiest way to get here is from different districts of Moscow. The coastline has many convenient access roads to it throughout its entire length. It is possible to turn to the reservoir in many places both from Dmitrovsky and from Ostashkovsky Highway. But you can go by train from Savyolovsky station to the platforms "Khlebnikovo" or "Vodniki".
