Lagonaki. Attractions are real miracles

Old-timers say that lovers jumped from the height of the mountain plateau, fleeing from the persecution of the formidable prince-father. The places shrouded in romance always make the traveler's heart beat faster.

Geography of the region

At the junction of the Adygei and Krasnodar Territories, on2000 m, located Lagonaki Highlands, whose attractions are known far beyond the Caucasus. Its highest point is Mount Fisht (2,853.9 m), the name translated means “white-headed”. Scientists believe that in the ancient ocean of Tethys, it was she who was a coral island. Mountain ranges, high mountain ranges and small plateaus of the highlands are separated from the rest of the Western Caucasus by steep cliffs from almost all sides. On a clear sunny day, Fisht is clearly visible not only from nearby Maikop and Sochi, but also from Krasnodar (in a straight line distance of about 135 km).

Caves and canyons

Up high, to the most alpine meadows,paved asphalt road. It is for her that tourists who want to touch the mystery of Lagonaki get to - the sights are located right on the highway. First of all, this is the Big Azish cave. Of the 125 caves hiding in the mountains, it is especially visited because of its convenient location. In 1987, it was equipped on a 220-meter-long section: lights were connected, paths, stairs, fences were built. Another visited highland cave is the Gentle, its peculiarity lies in its horizontal position, due to which it has always been inhabited. Convenience for viewing is in the small size of the cave - 97 m in length and 7 m in depth. There are a lot of canyons in Lagonaki, but the most accessible of them is the Big Granite. Located on the stretch of the Belaya River, it is known for the fact that its walls are lined with nature from stone of various shapes and colors. The tourists can hardly visit the canyon of the Tsitsa river of remarkable beauty because of its inaccessibility - you can get there only by water.

Lakes

Interestingly, a lake with a depth of several tens of centimeters sometimes forms a crater, well viewed through the surface of the crystal water. Currently, tourists are not allowed to approach the Psenodakh reservoir closer than 400 m: the authorities care about preserving the natural balance of Lagonaki, the sights are strictly protected by law.

Historical places of interest

The list of natural wonders of these places seems to beinexhaustible - the map of Lagonaki with landmarks is literally carved with signs of interesting places. Interesting places of this region are not limited to miraculous creations. At a height of 633.2 m, there is a beam of St. Andrew’s and the obelisk of A. Andreyev, erected at the site of the battle with the Nazis in 1942. A bridge spanned by the Cossacks in 1906 stretched across the Dakh river. It is also considered a monument of architecture. The bridge reached this day only thanks to the solution that held the stones together: egg white and milk gave an unusual strength to the structure.

The infrastructure of the mountain region is under construction.development, and this is understandable: many predict this resort a great future, comparing it with the Alps. Lagonaki, whose sights are so diverse and numerous, are destined to become part of the project "Resorts of the North Caucasus" in the near future.
