Estate history
At the end of the seventeenth century, construction began.homestead. Its first owners were the Kartsevs. Later, Yasnaya Polyana went to the Volkonsky family, who are relatives of the great maternal writer. Grandfather of Lev Nikolayevich - Nikolai Volkonsky - was very fond of the estate and was actively involved in economic affairs, as well as in landscaping a vast territory. The writer was born in this manor, here he lived for at least 50 years, and when he felt the approach of death, he bequeathed to bury him in the territory of Yasnaya Polyana and even chose a lonely place in the forest near the ravine. These instructions were executed, and the grave of Tolstoy is unchanged in our days. During the Great Patriotic War, the estate suffered, but was restored. Due to the timely evacuation of the collection, many valuable originals have been preserved. After the writer's death, the museum is run by his descendants, today the director’s great-grandson Vladimir Tolstoy remains.

Branches of the museum
Reserve complex "Tula:Yasnaya Polyana has several branches. Start the inspection is still with the manor. Please note - excursion service is ordered in advance, but you can use the services of a guide on site (with a quick group recruitment). The cost of access to the reserve is paid separately from excursions. This is a symbolic amount, about 50 rubles. Today, other estates that once belonged to relatives of Lev Nikolayevich are open to tourists. This Maloye Pirovogo is the estate of the writer's sister, Nikolskoe-Vyazemskoe - the building was completely rebuilt from scratch according to the information about the original house, Pokrovskoye - the estate of another sister, Mansurovo - Tolstoy’s son once lived here. Mode of operation and rules of conduct
The territory of the museum is a protected area.The rules of conduct are standard - do not litter and move only along footpaths. Toilets, litter bins and benches for rest are available. Photo and video in the reserve is free. You can visit the estate any day except Monday (sanitary). If your choice is a trip for major holidays, Tula, Yasnaya Polyana will be pleased with folk festivals. But note that with the influx of tourists ticket sales can be stopped before the scheduled time. In the warm season, the territory is open until 21.00, in winter - until 18.00. Internal expositions of buildings are closed a little earlier.

Tula, Yasnaya Polyana: how to get there?
From Moscow to Tula can be reached by personalcar on the M2. Also, many trains of the capital are sent by electric trains, fixed-route taxis and regular buses. From Tula to Yasnaya Polyana there are some routes of urban transport. These are buses Nos. 114, 117 and 280. You can also get there by car; bright signs are hung around the city especially for autotourists. Should go in the direction of Shchekino, after leaving the city, be guided by the main road and signs. Parking in front of the reserve is free, there are cafes and souvenir shops nearby.
