New Caspian Mining and MetallurgicalCombine (PGMK) demanded the development of the social infrastructure of the city of Shevchenko (Aktau). There was a problem of the need to separate the management of the work of the mines and the construction of the city. Minister E.P. Slavsky found a way out of the situation, giving in 1961 the powers of a single director of the PGMK, R. A. Grigoryan. The city was built from scratch, in the desert, where in the summer there was sweltering heat, and in winter - fierce frosts. People suffered from lack of water, electricity, lived in barracks, but worked selflessly. The result of their work was a beautiful city.
In addition to managing the company and the construction of the city, Ruben Aramaisovich conducted parliamentary work from 1963 to 1971. To all this, in 1970, the position of deputy director of the Physical Research Institute was added.
In 1973, the first was commissioned at PGMKmultifunctional nuclear power plant in the Soviet Union. It was the first industrial fast neutron reactor in the world. The nuclear power plant gave the city and the plant heat, electricity and fresh water. The construction of a nuclear power plant would not have taken place if PGMK had not been under the authority of R. A. Grigoryan.
Life results
Ruben Aramaisovich Grigoryan died 25November 1976 at the age of 59 years. Moscow Kuntsevo cemetery became its resting place. He did not even live to retirement. What was the cause? Perhaps the hard work of a lifetime, and not just anywhere, but in uranium mines. There is no information available whether he had a family, whether Ruben Grigoryan was happy. There is only one photo in public access: an official photo in a jacket with many awards. But no official body will hide the eye, wise and sad, like a biblical prophet, and a person full of nobility and dignity. Everyone has their own happiness. The concept of the happiness of an ordinary inhabitant is too different from the idea of a large personality about him. For the majority, hard work in hazardous work and great responsibility are not associated with happiness. Ruben Aramaisovich lived the only possible life for himself, dedicated to serving the Motherland and the people. In this, he realized himself, and this is already happiness.
