In the center of the square stands an obelisk, open to the 40th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War and dedicated to the defenders of the city. There was a junction of two sections of Nevsky Prospect, which matured under Peter I started simultaneously routed towards each other and from the Admiralty from Alexander Neva convent (later - laurel).
The pavilion itself was erected in the place of Demertsov’s wooden Church of the Sign of the Church of the Sign, destroyed before the war, about which a black plaque reminds passers-by on its facade.
