History of Khabarovsk Children's Railway

The construction of such a special project was carried out.exclusively on a voluntary basis. It was attended by young people, Komsomol members and not indifferent residents of the Zheleznodorozhny district of the city. With the discovery, ripe exactly for the centenary of Khabarovsk - on May 19, 1958 the first train was solemnly launched along the narrow gauge railway. At that time, the road was a ring with a total length of 600 m, along which the locomotive cruised with four open carriages with a capacity of 15 passengers.

  • In 1959, the locomotive replaced the presentnarrow gauge train of series 159. It can still be seen today on a pedestal at the Pionerskaya station. The road was extended to K. Marx Street, the flights were replaced. The total length of the route along it then was 3.3 km.
  • In 1965, wooden trailers were replaced with Polish-made all-metal special cars that accommodate up to 38 passengers each.
  • In 1967, it was decided to move the road away from the central avenue of the city, which reduced it by 600 meters.
  • In 1968, an old steam locomotive changed two TU-2 diesel locomotives.
  • In 1972, a real railway station was built at Pionerskaya where there was a waiting room, workshops, training and service offices.
  • The year 1974 was marked by the construction of a dormitory where practitioners on this narrow-gauge railway stopped.
  • In 1979, a full-fledged depot was built with a viewing pit for one locomotive.
  • In 1986-1987 the rolling stock was thoroughly updated: the Polish "Pafag" was replaced by the domestic Demikhov PW51, and the TU2 diesel locomotives were replaced by the newer TU7.
  • In 1999, a large-scalereconstruction of the children's railway: the station and the school building were repaired, the web was raised, the sleepers, rails, switches were replaced, the alarm and communication systems were modernized.
