History of the Danish Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid Monument in Denmark was established in 1913a year, seventy-six years after the fairy tale was written. Edward Eriksen, the master of the sea king, made the bronze daughter, and the customer of this unusual sculpture was Karl Jacobsen, son of the founder of the famous Danish brewery "Karlsberg". According to legend, Jacobsen was passionately in love with the ballet dancer of the Danish Royal Ballet, the beautiful Juliet Price, but she did not respond to his feelings. He ordered Eriksen a monument to the Little Mermaid, setting a condition that Juliet would be the model for him. However, the ballerina flatly refused to pose, and then the sculptor, without thinking twice, sculpted the Little Mermaid, looking at her own spouse. Having received the completed order, Carl Jacobsen presented a beautiful statue to his hometown.

Monument to the Little Mermaid in Crimea: the legend of the stolen beauty

Even the birth of a son did not save Arza from mental anguish. Having seized the moment, she, along with the baby, rushed from the tower into the cold waters of the Bosphorus ... That same evening, on the Mishor coast, people noticed a mermaid who had gotten out of the water. She had a little baby in her arms. The sad Mermaid looked for a long time at the village in which Arzy once lived, sat at her beloved fountain, and then also quietly swam back into the sea. Since then, once a year on the day when a beautiful Tatar was abducted, the Mermaid with a baby appears on the shore, and Arza’s favorite fountain begins to flow more strongly.
How did the Mermaid appear in Mishor?
Resting in the Crimea at the beginning of the last century, sadTatar legend heard Estonian sculptor Amandus Adamson. She inspired the master so much that at his own expense two sculptural compositions were created and installed: the girl of Arzy and the robber Ali-baba carved in the stone near the legendary fountain mentioned in the legend, and the monument to the Little Mermaid in the sea on the Mishor embankment.
Famous Little Mermaids from Warsaw: the legendary defenders of the city

Israeli mermaid from Kiryat Yam: in search of a sensation
