On the Manizer Street in Kharkov, in the shade of spruce and lime trees,a residential building hid, notable for the fact that the first floor in it occupies the House of Actor. This is one of the few urban theater centers that has reached the European level. More than 15 non-state actors studios and groups work on its stage. Some are just beginning their creative activity, others have long been known to the theater public, such as “New Stage”, “Amadeus”, “Nika”, “Theater 19”, “New Theater”.
House of Actor, Kharkov
It is located in a residential building built in1929 of the last century. In the postwar years it housed a puppet theater. Since 1968, the house was occupied by the Ukrainian Theater Society. After the reconstruction and extension of the additional premises in 1972, the building was handed over to the House of Actor. Since that time, evenings are held here dedicated to the stage masters and young actors, meetings with the audience, creative meetings with the theater groups touring in Kharkov, performances.
In 2005, on the basis of the House of Actor was createdKharkiv Theater Center (CTC) as a charitable foundation for uniting the activities of non-state theaters, public organizations and commercial structures. His main goal is to raise the culture in Kharkov to a higher level.

As part of the program of action of the founders during, the House of Actor in Kharkiv was radically reconstructed: a large hall with 200 seats was rebuilt, the dressing rooms and technical rooms were repaired and improved. Changed and foyer. Future plans include the restoration of the main and courtyard facades.
In connection with the expansion of the activities of the HTCa small stage with a transforming hall with 70 seats. This part of the performances was transferred to which the conditions of the small hall are necessary for creating more stage expressiveness. During the renovation of the premises, original planning solutions were used, which completely transformed the House of Actor.
Kharkiv is the only city in Ukraine that owns a free theater venue. It gives the opportunity to new acting studios to show their talent and improves the touring activities in the framework of the CTC.
Creative activity of the theater center
Extraordinary and bright productions collect completeauditoriums in the House of Actor. Kharkiv Theater has the opportunity to see more than 60 performances per month on its two stages. Here concerts, exhibitions, meetings are held. A lot of attention is paid to the holding of festivals: the international small form “Teatronic” and the annual “Kurbalesia”, in which performances of non-state theaters take part. The support of young directors, set designers, actors, the organization of creative evenings, master classes, competitions and, of course, production of performances - the House of Actor is tirelessly engaged in all of these. Kharkiv can be proud of its center. It is here, on the CTC stage, that the magic world of art always reigns and the theatrical heart of a cultural city beats.
