History
Philharmonic (Veliky Novgorod) was originallycalled the concert and pop bureau. Despite the fact that it was regional, it was located for the first time of its existence in the city of Borovichi. Novgorod at that time lay practically in ruins due to the hostilities.
The philharmonic moved to the regional center only in 1959. The collective received its own building only in 1987. Previously there was a drama theater. The room is part of the ensemble of the Kremlin.
Having received its own building, the Philharmonic (GreatNovgorod) began every year to hold various festivals: a holiday of Slavic literature and culture, "Christmas Gifts", "Stars of the XXI Century" and others. The team has expanded, it was joined by two orchestras. Artists began to go on tour not only in the cities of Russia, but also abroad.
In 2000, the Novgorod temple of music was declared the Philharmonic of the Year.
Today, the team is looking for new forms for working with students, expanding the repertoire, holding meetings with artists, introducing new genres.
Concerts are held here every year.organized together with leading bands and soloists of Russia and the world. For lovers of opera and ballet art events are held in which dancers and vocalists take part. They perform operas and ballets. But, unlike the theater, this is a concert version, without decorations and costumes. In collaboration with the Mariinsky Theater and Valery Gergiev, the Tsar's Bride operas by N. Rimsky-Korsakov and Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti were shown on the stage of the Novgorod Philharmonic Society. As well as within the framework of this subscription, the concert of the prima Mariinsky Uliana Lopatkina was held.
Now preparing to release a new project. It is called "Dyagilev Evenings". It was created for educational purposes. And also for the popularization of ballet and opera art in the Novgorod region.
Since 2011, the Philharmonic has been named after the greatcomposer A. S. Arensky. This obliges the team to organize large-scale projects. One of them was a festival dedicated to the work of Anthony Stepanovich, which still exists today.
Active cooperation with the best musicians of Moscow and St. Petersburg continues.
Concerts and lectures are held for the younger generation. The team tries to teach children and young people to listen, understand and love classical music.
Philharmonic activities are aimed at making life more spiritual and interesting.

Orchestra of Russian folk instruments
Philharmonic (Veliky Novgorod) became home toRussian folk orchestra in 2001. It was then that he was created by Viktor Grigorievich Babanov, a teacher of the music school. The head and chief conductor of the orchestra is Vitaly Vladimirovich Belyaev.
This orchestra is the only one in the region working in the folk instrumental genre. His repertoire is extensive. It includes not only folk music, but also masterpieces of world classics.
