If you want to make a nice basket of ordinary newsprint with your own hands, then prepare the necessary material, and - for work. Weaving baskets from newspapers - the occupation is quite simple and very exciting.
For work we will need: a newspaper, cardboard, glue, scissors, acrylic paints or varnish, a needle, protective gloves, brushes, a clean napkin and a dish for the shape of the future basket.
Weaving from the newspaper tubes baskets
Weaving a product consists of several stages:
1. Cut along a newspaper or magazine into strips 6-8 cm wide. Let's make them quite a lot.
2. We wind on the spokes of a section of a newspaper as shown in the figure below. We begin to wind the needles from one end to the other.
3. Grease the corner of the tube with glue, cut off the excess.Gently glue the end of the newspaper strip and pull a needle out of it. Put the billet on a clean napkin, while in the meantime we will do the following tube in the same way. When making them, it is necessary to ensure that they are thin, and the ends are of different thickness (so that the end of one tube can enter the other).
4. Spiral weaving from newspaper tubes
We put our "vine" as shown in the figure below, and begin to weave from the newspaper tubes of the basket.
Bent tubule impose on top of the bottom, then pass through the bottom to the bottom, braiding the tubes folded with a cross, either from above or from below. If the length ends, you need to insert another tube into the free end and glue them together. In this way we weave the bottom of the future basket. The extra ends of the tubes we twisted will stretch between the woven tubes and glue to the bottom of the future basket around the perimeter. Then we put the basket form (bowl, jug or something else) on the resulting bottom blank and we will continue to weave the basket's newspaper tubes (now its side part and its handles). To do this, we take new tubes and stretch them along the perimeter of the bottom so that around it a sort of fence is formed from newspaper tubes that are perpendicular to it. We weave this "fence" with newspaper tubes to the top of the basket. Excess pieces of vertical tubes, except four, weave around the top of the basket and glue to it. From the same four vertical we will make basket handles. The finished basket can be painted with acrylic paints or varnished.
You can make it differently. For the bottom you can use two cardboard rectangles (square, circle or oval), one of them is slightly larger than the other. We glue them over with thick paper. Grease the larger rectangle around the perimeter with glue and glue to it a lot of paper tubes as shown in the figure below.
Glue the smaller rectangle on top. All glued tubules, except the upper right, bend up and fasten them. Lower left we will perform weaving from newspaper tubes baskets in a spiral.
We will stretch the tube between the verticaltubes on one side, then on the other. Extend the "vine" is extended, sticking to it the next. You can not lengthen all the time, and after its complete interweaving, stick the end to the basket. Weave continue to the next tube.
To make the tubes more firmly adhered, you can use clothespins.
