The history of the birth of the icon

Therefore, the icon "The Seven Sisters of God", as well as the one with it on the iconography "Softening the Evil Hearts", depict the Mother of God (without the Son), whose heart is pierced by 7 arrows or swords located on both sides of the Virgin Mary. If the swords are 6, then the Virgin Mary holds the baby Jesus in her arms. Some sources link the figure 7 not only with the suffering that has fallen to her share, but also with the number of the most serious human sins from which Prisnodeva wants to save people.

Myths about the icon of the Seven Shot

The very icon "The seven-sided Mother of God", incrediblyrevered by the Orthodox, has its own prehistory. Found it in the Vologda region, in the 17th century, when the incurably sick peasant in a dream was a revelation.
