July 29, 2015 Kiev was shocked by the terrible news:Priest Roman Nikolaev died from a severe gunshot wound. The parishioners loved him, he was only a little over forty, he had a wife, a son and a grandson. We attacked Romana on the night of July 25-26. Two masked men were waiting for the priest to return at the entrance of his house, located on ul. Heroes of Stalingrad. When one of the intruders noticed him, he shot him in the head precisely. Roman was not robbed of his father, as his personal belongings remained with him. Wounded Roman Nikolaev remained bleeding on the stairs until a neighbor found him, who immediately called for an ambulance and the police. But in the intensive care unit on the fourth day the clergyman Roman died.
Roman Nikolaev (priest): biography
Roman was born on February 7, 1975.He served as ponomarie at the temple of Cosmas and Damian since 2004. And in 2005, Roman Nikolaev entered the Kiev Theological Seminary. Since 2009, he begins to serve as a deacon at the temple of Cosmas and Damian. Since 2013, already ordained to the priesthood. Soon he was appointed the chief and responsible person for the construction of the temple of St. Tatiana in the Obolon district of the city of Kiev, where his ministry as priest was later assumed.
Consequence
Law enforcement immediately sent allthe forces to search for the perpetrators of crimes and opened a case on the fact of premeditated murder, threatening criminals from 7 to 15 years in prison. Now it is difficult to judge the motives of this atrocity.
At all times, the killing of a priest was consideredthe most unprecedented work that only a low person is capable of, because the clergy have no right to defend themselves with the help of fights and weapons, they also do not participate in the political struggle, without sympathizing with any of the parties. This is how violence against the defenseless is predetermined.
About Roman said he makes an impressionrespectable and friendly person. In connection with the force change of power in Ukraine and the unleashed war in the Donbass, the situation in the country still remains tense, people are divided into two opposing camps and in religious terms too (the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate is constantly accused of all mortal sins). In politics, too, there was a strong split. However, Roman Nikolaev, a priest of the UOC-MP, is a man who has never exhibited his political views in social networks.
Versions
A slightly strange version of the assumption is that the murder could have been related to the construction of the temple, as there were activists opposing its creation.
However, with this tragic event are still connectedrather strange circumstances. On the day of St. Tatiana's Martyr, February 25, 2014, a solemn event was held - the place and the first laying of the temple under construction was consecrated by Bishop Theodosius of Boyar. On the second day, unknown people filled the memorial plaque with orange paint. Malchizedek (Gordienko) hieromonk of the Desyatinny Monastery wrote about this unpleasant event on his Facebook page.
One of the main reasons
Melchizedek also reported that on the spotThe temple being built on August 10 served the First Divine Liturgy, which was performed by Father Roman Nikolaev. From this time on the website of the Prosperity, all were notified that every Sunday and on the Twelve Great Days there would be divine services.
Now we come to the most interesting thing that writesedition of the Socialist Republic. It turns out that on February 27, 2015, a deputy from the Batkivshchyna party A. Brygintsu allegedly received a written statement from residents of the Obolon district of Kiev, who were literally outraged that the UOC-MP began building a church on the River Prirechnaya street when there already was one temple. The People's Deputy immediately sent the paper to the State Administration of Kiev to Vladimir Makeyenko to get all the information about the land by whom and when it was allocated for the construction of the temple.
In general, however, the version is there, but the criminals have not been found to this day.
