Cyclamen is a tuberous plant, but not less thanthe multiplication of this houseplant and seeds is common. Growing cyclamens from seeds on their own is not only a very interesting process, but also a guarantee that the future plant will be adapted to the conditions of your housing, while cyclamens purchased in greenhouses or flower shops often do not get well or do not take root at all in an urban environment apartment or private house. Just imagine: one small seed, surrounded by your attention and care, will soon give life to a plant with lush foliage and bright unusual inflorescences that will adorn your little garden on the windowsill.
Today you can buy seeds of cyclamensalmost in any flower shop, but if you really want to experiment with the already existing cyclamen in your collection, you can also collect seeds at home. For this, during the flowering of an adult plant, cross pollination is carried out so that the pollen from the flower on one peduncle is found on the stigma of the flower pestle on another peduncle. It is better to do it on a sunny morning: then the probability of the appearance of the ovary will be much higher. How do you know if pollination has been successful or not? If within two months after pollination a flower box has increased, the process goes as expected. After the seeds ripen, it is very important to protect them from drying out, which is not always possible with the material available in flower shops.
How to plant the seeds of cyclamen: we understand some of the subtleties
So, the seeds are obtained - you can proceed to theirdisembarkation. Soil is better to choose loose, with good air circulation, nutritious. Immediately before planting, the cyclamen seeds can be soaked in a composition that stimulates growth and root formation, for example in zircon. It should be noted that different grades of cyclamens do not coexist together in the same tank. For example, the European cyclamen, the seeds of which were planted along with the cyclamen of Persia, can still be contrived and not allow sprouts at all.
When planting, the cyclamen seeds are laid out onthe surface of the moistened soil, then sprinkled with a layer of earth no thicker than 1 cm. The container is covered with a lightproof material, since the cyclamens from the seeds grow best in the dark.
Seedlings: we provide the necessary care and wait for the first sprouts
For the successful germination of cyclamens from seedsrequire an air temperature of 18-20 ° C. If the heat is excessive, the seeds may fall into a hibernation, and if the temperature drops below 18 ° C, decay may start. In addition, the hotbed should be regularly ventilated and monitor the level of soil moisture. If these requirements are met, after 40 days you can wait for the appearance of the first shoots. Young plants need a well-lit place, but protected from direct sunlight.
When the cyclamens from the seeds release the firsta real sheet, they can be proppied. At the same time, the nodules formed are lightly sprinkled with earth, whereas in adult plants the tuber should protrude slightly above the ground surface. A full grown plant you will receive about a year.
