The dream of many gardeners is to grow on their ownplot tasty and very healthy grapes. Plant reproduction in Siberia does not work for everyone. Culture has come to this region recently, and the experience of growing is not enough. But in the southern regions, where climatic conditions make it possible to grow luxurious grapes, its reproduction is not difficult. There are many experienced winegrowers with a light hand - stuck the chubuk into the ground, and after 2-3 weeks it starts to turn into a vine.
Reproduction methods of grapes
It is grown from seeds, cuttings (they are calledChubukov), layering and vaccinations. Which of these methods is the best? Let's start in order. The first method is only suitable for obtaining decorative grapes for decorating arbors and arches. Plants from seeds develop very long - it will take 5 years, or even 6, until they become fruitful. But grapes will be wild - with sour and tasteless berries. The fact is that a plant from a stone will not repeat all qualities of a variety. Therefore, do not buy seedlings from strangers. The grapes they can be grown from the stone.
The best and most common among beginnersamateur gardeners method - the reproduction of grapes at home by cuttings, or, as they are often called, chibukov. The cuttings are harvested from annual shoots during the autumn pruning when preparing the vine for shelter for the winter. The shoot is cleared of leaves, they examine whether the bark and eyes (buds) are well formed. From the middle or lower part of the shoot with a diameter of 7-10 cm cut 40-centimeter cuttings. The lower cut is done immediately under the lower eye, and the top, backing from the upper eye by 2 cm.
Harvested cuttings soaked for 20 hourswater with a temperature of +15 ... + 18 degrees Celsius. This is necessary to ensure a reserve of moisture in the cuttings, so that they do not dry out during storage prior to planting. Then, to protect against mold, dip the cuttings into a solution of 5% ferrous sulfate for an hour or two. After that, the cuttings are allowed to dry slightly, tied with bunches, wrapped in a wet sacking, placed in plastic bags, which are tightly tied, supplying a label with the name of the variety. Store cuttings in a dry cool basement with a temperature of +2 ... + 5 degrees Celsius.
At the end of January of the week for three cuttings freeand cover the lower part with wet sawdust from coniferous wood, regularly wetting it. During this time, callus will form on the cuttings - the primary root tissue. In advance, you need to prepare for planting pots (boxes), filling them with a mixture composed of equal parts of sand, compost and peat. Cuttings with roots are planted in prepared containers and put on the window, periodically pouring water, you can feed complex fertilizer type "Kemira" (1 tsp. To 3 liters of water).
For better rooting, you can cover the cuttingsglass jars, periodically removing them, accustoming the seedlings to the air environment. When spring frosts are bypassed, rooted cuttings with leaves are planted in the ground, trying not to destroy the earthy clod on the roots. Water the seedlings first every 2-3 days, preventing the soil from drying out, and then as needed. From a bush grown from a cutting, in a year or two you can pick grapes.
