VAZ-2328 - the first pickup of the VAZ

In the early 90's many automobile plants of the formerThe USSR faced the problem of selling cars. Trying to find additional customers, enterprises start feverishly introducing new modifications into the model series. So there are cars with bodies of pick-up or cabriolet, created on the basis of serial cars.

Development of a pickup truck

Do not stay away from such trends andthe largest car manufacturer in the USSR is the VAZ plant. The only difference was that the development and production of new modifications were carried out by subsidiaries. One of such enterprises was LLC "Motorika Lada Tul", engaged in the finalization of cars with the all-wheel drive VAZ-2121 "Niva".

The forces of specialists of this company and the OPP VAZ in 1995two versions of pick-ups were developed and produced in small series. The first variant of the car under the designation VAZ-2328 had a double cabin, the second - VAZ-2329 - was equipped with an elongated five-seater cabin. The short version was planned for production with two variants of the rear overhang - standard and elongated. Cargo platforms of both cars could be equipped with a tent. Machines were positioned as transport for small farms.

Intra-plant pick-up trucks

Long before the development of "Motors" at the plant VAZby an artisanal way they produced an unknown number of pick-up trucks on the meringue "Niva". Machines were created as in-plant transport. Some were used to deliver components from suppliers. The same handicraft pick-up trucks were also made on AZLK on the basis of "Moskvich 2141". The initial nodes for these machines were the rejected bodies of serial vehicles.

Subsequently, after the write-off, some of these machines fell into private use. Such cars are still sometimes found on the roads.

Technical features

Full-wheel drive pick-up with a double cabbased on the nodes of the long version of the Niva. As a power unit, a 79-strong carburetor engine was used. The torque was transmitted through a five-speed gearbox and a two-speed transfer case. The drive of all wheels is constant.

Four wheel drive pickup truck

The car could accelerate to no more than 132km / hour. The declared average consumption of gasoline A92 while driving along the route was about 12 liters per 100 km. In urban conditions, the car's appetite increased significantly - up to 16-17 liters. A stock of gasoline was in two fuel tanks with a capacity of 42 liters each. Banks were located along the sides of the car.

The VAZ-2328 braking system was standard forThe plant's products are discs without ventilation in front and drums from the rear. In the steering control, a worm gearbox was used, the booster was absent. The machine weighed in an empty state of 1370 kg, the payload was half a ton. The tailgate of the cargo platform was folding. At the same time, the pickup kept the original rear lighting equipment from the Niva.

Front and rear suspension VAZ-2328constructively repeated similar nodes of the Niva. Taking into account more complicated operating conditions, the suspension elements were reinforced. Thanks to them the ground clearance of the car was considerable 220 mm, which allowed the pickup to confidently overcome the impassability.

Short life

The car VAZ-2328 received an unofficial own trade name "Wolf". The exhibition model of the car had a picture of a running wolf on the door, hence this unspoken moniker.

But neither the name, nor the good passability did not helpmachine to find popularity. Due to low demand, the life of the first pickup truck VAZ was short-lived - in 1997, production was discontinued. Potential buyers of VAZ-2328 were not satisfied with low carrying capacity and a small number of places for passengers. According to some sources, production was limited to the production of a set of machines.
