Every driver should know how to adjustclutch on your car. This procedure should be carried out in the case when the disc and clutch basket are changed, as well as in case of excessive wear of these elements. The movement of the car on the highway occurs almost always at a constant speed, the gearbox is very rarely carried out.
But when driving around the city it is necessary to constantlystop, reduce or increase the speed, the clutch pedal is sometimes squeezed several dozen times in one minute. When this occurs, significant wear as a drive mechanism and clutch elements.
Hydraulic drive
There are two types of drives that have receiveddistribution in passenger cars. The first one is hydraulic, which includes the working and main cylinders. They are connected using a flexible tube containing brake fluid. The driver pedal creates pressure in the system, the piston of the main cylinder moves under the action of the rod inside.
At the working cylinder, the rod extendsout and acts on the clutch fork. In this case, the disc is disconnected from the working surface of the clutch basket, as a result of which the gearbox is disconnected from the engine. Such drive designs were widely used on VAZ cars of the classic series - model 2101-2107. It has a rather complicated construction; the probability of breakdowns is much higher than that of a cable.
Cable drive
Clutch Drive Systemvery simple in construction, there is practically nothing to break in it. At the base is a flexible cable that connects the clutch fork and the pedal. It is outside covered with silicone, which ensures its maximum mobility.
Widely used on all cars VAZ,starting with model 2108. Before adjusting the clutch at the VAZ, you need to know which drive is installed on the car. To do this, it is enough to know the model of your car.
Pedal adjustment with a hydraulic drive
In order to make adjustments to the position of the pedal, you must perform the following steps:
- At the junction of the pedal and the main cylinder rod has an adjusting nut. It must be loosened to correct the pedal position.
- Rotating the nut, you want to reduce the free movement of the clutch pedal.
- Since the clutch pedal can be adjusted by adjusting the position of the rod on the working cylinder, it is desirable to do this.
- Loosen the locknut, then rotate the adjustment, achieving a minimum free play. Valid value is less than 160 mm.
The entire setting is made empirically - the number of revolutions that must be done to reduce the free wheeling may be different, it all depends on the condition of the car and its systems.
Please note that in the expansion tank must always be filled with fresh brake fluid, and clearly on the level. Otherwise, the drive mechanism will not work.
Cable-type clutch adjustment
Такой привод применяется на автомобилях с leading front wheels. These are "nine", "tens" and newer "Grants" and "Priory". A small instruction on how to properly adjust the clutch on cars that have a similar drive:
- Loosen with the help of two keys on the "17" fixing the cable on the bracket, which is located on the gearbox.
- The outer nut must be unscrewed to increase the overall cable length.
- Again, the adjustment is done empirically. We made several turns - we fixed the position with the second nut and checked the pedal free play.
- If the free run has not decreased, then the adjustment procedure must be repeated.
- At the end of all the work you need to carefully tighten the internal nut, put on the rubber boot.
It is advisable to make a timely replacement.cable, as it can break at the most inopportune moment. When tightening, the outer nut cannot be rotated - it is with its help that the length of the cable is adjusted.
Replacing the drive cable
So how do you adjust the worn gripcable drive is unlikely to succeed, it is desirable to install a new element. Its cost in stores is about 250 rubles. But after the replacement, even the old “nine” will not be able to give in to any budget foreign car. The clutch pedal will be very light, which will improve the car’s handling.
To replace the cable, you must perform the following steps:
- Turn on the speed on the gearbox and set the wheel chocks under the rear wheels.
- Remove the cable from the clutch fork.
- Unscrew the two nuts to free the cable from the bracket.
- Disconnect the cable from the bracket. More it does not hold.
- Disconnect the second cable from the pedal. To do this, remove the lock washer.
You can then completely remove the entire drive.clutch and instead install a new one in reverse order. After installation, it is imperative to adjust the pedal free travel. This will improve the car’s handling.
