In Murmansk, as in many Russian cities, there is a psychoneurological dispensary. It was created in March 1963.
How it all began
In total in the city at that time there were two dispensaries:regional and city. In the regional there were only 10 beds. The staff of these establishments consisted of only 14 people. There were few doctors, but they were devoted to their profession. For example, NL Donis initiated the opening of boarding schools in the city for children who had some mental disabilities. Over time, it was required to organize narcological assistance to the population. This since 1968 was practiced by the doctor Umetsky SS. Over time, the offices of children's psychiatrists were opened at the bases of children's polyclinics. In connection with the expansion, new employees and premises were required. Because of their absence, they had to transport patients to the neighboring city of Apatity. But the patients were transported in common train cars together with other passengers, which was, of course, very risky, although they were accompanied by a special brigade.
Improving conditions
In 1970, by combining urban andregional institutions was organized by the Murmansk regional psycho-neurological dispensary. Murmansk needed a similar institution. This made it possible to open inpatient units, and a room for forensic psychiatric examination was opened. The population began to provide medical and social assistance. Due to the fact that a psycho-neurological clinic (Murmansk) was opened, the rehabilitation of patients began to be conducted in a larger volume. Initially, the work was carried out in two buildings. In one there was a hospital, in the other - an ambulatory. It was uncomfortable. In addition, there were not enough places to accommodate patients. But in 1977, under a psycho-neurological dispensary (Murmansk), a large building was transferred on Lobova Street, 14. This made it possible to combine all the services in one room, open a laboratory, a physiotherapeutic room, and a room for forensic examination. Over time, the psycho-neurological dispensary (Murmansk) got a new building on Sverdlov Street, 2/4. This allowed to open a children's and adolescent department.
Will help everyone
It is not only treated. On the basis of the dispensary, the training of future medical personnel was organized, the organization of advanced training courses was conducted. Often, seminars are held at which issues of psychiatry are considered, not only regional, but also interregional. Specialists from Norway and prosperous Sweden come to the congresses on psychiatry. The team of doctors and nurses knows and works perfectly well, and treats patients and their relatives well. If you have a need to contact the mental hospital (Murmansk), the institution's working hours: daily from 9.00 to 18.30 hours, except Saturday and Sunday.
