This article provides information foryoung parents or people who are still awaiting the birth of a baby. The phenomenon to be discussed is called the “spontaneous Moro reflex”. In the absence of basic knowledge about the vital activity of the body of newborn babies, some people, when confronted with it, may become confused. The fact is that children are born with a set of certain reflexes intended for survival.
Not all young couples are good.instructed at the time of the birth of children, so some phenomena may even cause them to panic. In particular, when a baby suddenly throws up its hands, inexperienced parents easily become confused. This is the Moreau reflex described in the article, which can also sometimes be called the “startle reflex”. Having no idea about the presence of this phenomenon and not understanding its mechanisms, some parents rush to call the pediatrician or even carry the child to a neurologist.
Рефлекс Моро свойственен новорожденным и, как usually disappears completely after a few months. In neonatology, it is well known. This reflex was first described in 1918 by a German pediatrician, in whose honor this manifestation got its name. To demonstrate it, Dr. Moreau produced an unexpected pop on the plane on which the head of the child was located.
Cotton should be applied during the experiment.hands of both hands simultaneously on both sides of the head of the baby. The provoked reflex consists in the fact that the arms of the child, half-bent at the elbows, are moved apart and fingers are spreading. Then he seeks to hug, as if to hug something to himself. Lifting the lower half of the body of a newborn with straightened legs also provokes the manifestation of the Moro reflex. The same can happen with a sudden noise, sharp cotton in the immediate vicinity of the crib, which is why the Moreau reflex is also called the “fright reflex”.
In fact, this is a normal reaction of the newborn.and parents can be calm. Another extreme warning to adults is to turn the startle reflex into fun. The behavior of babies always touches loving parents, but throwing up the hands of your child occurs precisely as a result of strong inner experiences - in particular, fear. Presumably, the baby feels the fall and reflexively tries to save his life by trying to grab onto his mother. Thus, triggering a reflex causes stress to the child's body.
Moro's reflex manifestation is accompanied by a childrapid breathing and palpitations, adrenaline production. As a result, the baby may begin to cry. On the other hand, deliberately trying to prevent the manifestation of reflexes should not be. Moreover, to avoid them will not succeed, because thanks to the unconditioned reflexes, newborns are prepared for active growth and psychophysical development.
These reflexes are inherent in all healthy babies. One of the most famous is the sucking reflex, which is manifested when feeding or even hitting the baby’s mouth. At the same time, the baby has reflex sucking movements. The sucking reflex subsides after the baby is fed, but after about 30 to 60 minutes it revives again. There are about twenty such unconditioned reflexes, and they are told about them during the preparation courses for childbirth and child care. Fear should cause, on the contrary, the absence of unconditioned reflexes in newborns.
As for the Moro reflex, then, as a rule, about half a year of life of a newborn, its manifestations completely disappear. If it continues to persist, it may be an occasion to consult with the appropriate specialist.
