In winter 2015The Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol considered the question of changing the symbols of the city, the coat of arms and the flag. It was suggested to return to the griffin, releasing the Soviet vestiges. The topic was discussed hotly. The new version of the griffin is surrounded by a two-headed eagle, crowned with three royal crowns, and the Admiralty anchors and the St. George ribbon.
