Radio relay communication systems

Radio relay communication systems (RRS) for todayday are the most important type of transport information networks: the vital activity of the absolute majority of the population of the planet depends to a certain extent on them.

This technology implies the transfer of informationthrough a network of relay stations. The land lines transport the radio signal in the decimeter and centimeter bands, at frequencies from several hundred MHz to several tens of GHz.

Radio relay communication systems have the following advantages:

- the ability to transmit both narrowband and broadband signals;

- multichannel and duplex (two-way, providing and receiving, and transmission) communication between subscribers;

- almost complete immunity to atmospheric disturbances and industrial "background";

- much less, in comparison with a wired connection, time of network organization;

- Narrow directivity of antenna devices, which limits the increase of the general electromagnetic background of the terrain.

At the same time, the use of the RRS is not without its drawbacks caused by the need to ensure:

- high antenna arrangement and direct geometric "visibility" between neighboring receiving / transmitting devices;

communication equipment
- increase in the number of intermediate stations in proportion to the increasing signal transmission distance.

In addition, these systems have rather cumbersome communication equipment, and the construction of networks in hard-to-reach areas is difficult to deliver and install.

All of the above plays an important role,that radio-relay communication lines wherever possible, are replaced by fiber-optic lines (FOCL). They are promoted by their displacement and constant growth of traffic, loads on transportation networks. In the metropolitan areas, FOCL will undoubtedly gradually take dominant positions, but the scale of Russia and the specifics of the development of transport lines predetermine the belief that radio relay communication systems will be used widely in the coming decades. In the vastness of our country a huge number of places in which the construction and deployment of fiber-optic lines will simply never pay off.

And even when using optical fiber as amain networks, there is no need for the existence of backup, because the cable lines are prone to breaks and, as a result, rather long idle periods. And as backup radiorelay communication systems do not have competitors.

Moreover, one can speak not only about theirpreservation, but also on further development: a new impetus to this gives us the digital TV that enters our lives. In organizing the broadcasting of digital television, the RRS are the ideal solution, offering the most acceptable quality of communication, cost and speed of deployment. This is most pronounced when broadcasting in single-frequency mode. And in connection with the simplification of import / registration of equipment and obtaining permits, it is forecasted a growing interest to the RRS from enterprises and organizations in the creation of corporate networks.
