History
Stone bridge in Voronezh, whose historyIt began in the time of Peter the Great, is located in a very picturesque place, in the historical center of the city, at the intersection of Chernyshevsky and Karl Marx streets (previously, these streets were called Theological and Staromoskovskaya respectively).
At that time, the Azov fleet was being built, andon the site of the future facilities were streams of cargo. From this, the road along Bogoslovskaya Street gradually began to blur with water, and subsequently a ravine formed in the ground, which became a hindrance to the passage. In the XIII century, the streets ceased to function for the "transport" of those times - horse-drawn carts. It became obvious that a bridge was needed at the intersection of the above streets.
However, financial resources for its constructionwere found only in 1826. Then city governor Mykola Kryvtsov allocated the necessary amount at his own risk. Construction was carried out without the permission of the emperor, for which the official was subsequently punished. For execution of unscheduled works and expenditure of funds, the governor was reprimanded and fined, and after such an act his reputation also suffered.
The bridge was the first in the city, which was built frombrick, not wood. Hence the name. If you believe the remaining documentation, the construction of the crossing from the city treasury was spent 5 thousand 596 rubles.
