Agree, the Oktyabrskaya station is a subway station, which is well known not only to Muscovites, but also to the guests of the Russian capital. Why? Well, of course, thanks to the magnificent location, because above there are important objects of cultural life in Moscow, for example, the Central House of Artists, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Donskoy Monastery, the Park. Gorky. Although it is impossible not to note the fact that the station itself is rather interesting both historically and architecturally.
Section 1. "October". Metro. general description
This station is located in the Moscowsubway on the famous Ring Line. From one side is "Dobryninskaya", and on the other - "Park of Culture". The Oktyabrskaya metro station is located in the Yakimanka district. It has three vaults and is located at a depth of 40 meters under the earth, which automatically makes it an object of deep laying. From the center of the hall you can change to the station of the same name, located on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. From the lobby passengers take to the Leninsky Prospect, the Crimean shaft and the Kaluga square.
This convenient transport hub was opened in 1950year. Its restoration was carried out in 2010. In honor of this event on November 15, 2010 at the ticket offices of the Ring Line you could buy holiday tickets with original design, valid for 2 trips.
Section 2. "October". Metro. History of construction
Its original name was "Kaluzhskaya", forthe same name for the nearby square. In 1921, the square was given a new name "October", and only June 6, 1961 renamed the station itself. Now the area is again called "Kaluga", but the station has the former name - "Oktyabrskaya".
Interior decoration, invented by L.Polyakov, dedicated to the memory of warriors of the Great Patriotic War. It should be noted that the victory theme was used in the construction of other metro stations, but only L. Polyakov was able to recreate the temple style. To the apse depicting the altar, are the rows of torches. It itself is made in blue, embodying the bright future of the Soviet people. The apse is covered by a metal fence, made in the Empire style.
According to experts, this metro station is the first, the architecture of which resembles the samples of the temple architecture of the West and at the same time the basilicas of early Christianity.
Section 3. "October". Metro. Typical features of the station
The ground pavilion is made in the form of grandiosea triumphal arch, which is decorated externally with bas-reliefs of women and men dressed in the uniform of the Soviet Army. Figures are illuminated by lamps located on columns.
In 1990, the station's ground vestibule was built inbuilding of the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys. The pylons are lined with gray marble. They are decorated with lamps in the form of torches. They were made by AI Damaski of anodized aluminum. Traveling walls are lined with ceramic tiles of light yellow color and decorated with tiles of wreaths. The floor is covered with granite of two colors: gray and red. The central hall along the perimeter is decorated with a patterned insert of alternating bands of marble of light and dark tones.
Halls with cashiers and escalators are decoratedbas-reliefs made by GI Motovilov. These bas-reliefs depict armed soldiers, combat banners and girls embodying Glory. On the pylons there are medallions on which Soviet soldiers are depicted.
