Sarah Ward - British actress, whose fame brought the role of Romana in the fantastic television series Doctor Who. She also wrote three books and recorded several audiobooks.
First roles
Sarah Ward graduated from school at the age of 14, since she(in her own words) "hated her every minute." From 1968 to 1971, Ward studied at the Royal Central School of Stage Speech and Dramatic Art in London.
The actress debuted on the big screen in 1972year, playing a supporting role in the horror film of Robert Young "Circus of the Vampires". Modern film critics took the film well. The company AllMovie called this picture one of the most stylish and intelligent projects of the studio Hammer. In 2012, based on the movie came out the book of the same name.
In 1975, the young actress got a role inadventure action movie "Rosebud", based on the novel by Joan Hemingway. Although director Otto Preminger selected a strong cast for the film, the film did not become very famous.

In 1979, the actress performed the role of Novels inthe episode "Armageddon Factor" of the fantastic television series Doctor Who. Ward brilliantly coped with the difficult role. The producers suggested that she replace actress Mary Tamm, who decided to leave the television series. Ward agreed, and over the next two seasons appeared in almost every episode of the series. Career
After the TV series Doctor Who, the actress played inseveral tv movies. After marrying actor Tom Baker, Ward decided to end his acting career. However, in 1993, she again played Roman in the special issue "Doctor Who: Changes in Time."
Sarah Ward is fond of drawing and needlework. She even wrote two books on knitting and one on embroidery.
The actress has been engaged in charity for over twenty years.
Personal life
In 1980, the actress married Tom Baker,the star of the television series Doctor Who. Their union did not last long - in 1982, the couple divorced. The main reasons for the divorce were different interests, attitudes and lifestyle.
Sarah Ward was friends with Douglas Adams for many years, a writer and screenwriter with whom they worked on the Doctor Who television series. The death of Adams in 2001 was a huge blow to the actress.
It was Adams who introduced her to Richard Dawkins -a biologist and writer, known for his books "The Selfish Gene" and "Unraveling a Rainbow." In 1992, Ward married Dawkins. In 2016, after twenty-four years of marriage, Sarah Ward and Richard Dawkins broke up.
