Gun Capital
The Izhmash plant museum is one of the oldest in the republic. The first school of arsenal students was opened here in 1827.
An exhibition of tools and weapons worked at the school.In 1847, as a result of a long correspondence with Nicholas I, the plant’s management opened a real exhibition where the best weapons of the time were demonstrated.
In 1887, the museum moved to the main factorythe corpus, by this time the exposition had more than doubled and became so interesting that Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich honored her with her presence. The historical events of the early 20th century had a strong influence on the museums of Izhevsk. During the Civil War, the most valuable exhibits were looted, and after the Great Patriotic War the museum was closed to public for almost thirty years. Only in 1975, the exhibition was again open to visitors.
Weapon collection
In the first hall of the museum Izhmash presentedhistorical exhibits, including cold arms of the XIX century. The weapon production of the war years is located in the second hall. The famous Maxim machine gun, rapid-fire air cannons, anti-tank guns - all the best weapons manufactured since 1947 are collected here. The collection, located in the third hall, is dedicated to Mikhail Kalashnikov - the famous designer, inventor of the world-famous automaton. Recently in the museum opened the fourth hall dedicated to motorcycles.

The pearls of the collection are paintings by Italian artists of the early 19th century, representatives of the Flemish school of painting.
