Modern world.A world in which there is still a place for disgusting phenomena, one of which is discrimination. This is despite the fact that technical progress is already beyond the reasonable, and scientific discoveries turn our consciousness. It would seem, what more could you want, because society is developing steadily. However, for some reason, a significant proportion of people still do not want to recognize the rights of those who are somehow different from them.
What is the meaning of the word "discrimination"?In different sources you can find a variety of definitions. However, if you do not go into details and speak in general terms, then discrimination is a moral or physical infringement of someone’s rights, due to the presence of a certain distinctive feature in a group of people.
Если приводить пример, то на ум сразу же приходит Russian law prohibiting the so-called propaganda of homosexuality. To answer the question of what it is all about, politicians either find it difficult or begin to refer to weak children's minds. However, in this case there is a banal discrimination, the main purpose of which is to divert the thoughts of a simple inhabitant from the real problems existing in the country: economic, political and social.
It should, however, be noted that the aboveexamples are characteristic mainly of Russian society. In Europe and America, a person belonging to the sexual minority has long been no surprise to anyone. In addition, it has equal rights with all, and in some countries even the right to marry (the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and many others).
Another direction in which manifests itselfdiscrimination is racism, that is, infringement of the rights of a group of people based on racial, as well as nationality. Racism and chauvinism in 1939 became one of the main reasons for the beginning of a destructive war. The fragile minds of today's time, having forgotten, apparently, about what the consequences of the Great Patriotic War were, cultivate and spread the ideas of neo-Nazism. Not knowing where to send the forces, young (in 95% of cases - it is young) people send them not to create, but to destruction and hatred.
Another example of infringement on anyone’s rights isgender discrimination, especially manifested in the workplace. This type of intolerance is characterized by the following: considering someone's candidacy as a potential employee, the employer judges not by his individual qualities, but by the qualities inherent in a particular social group (in this case, men or women). Here you can mention another trend. For example, to a woman who works as a driver, or to a man who has found his vocation in the fashion world, many people treat, if not with contempt, then certainly with a strong lack of understanding and disapproval.
Discrimination is what is neededto struggle, in whatever sphere of life, it is not manifested. Lack of tolerance only harms society: developing materially, it forgets about spirituality and tolerance. And this state of affairs ultimately leads either to wars, or, at best, to revolutions. Intolerance always leads to the degradation of society and hinders its development.
