Dmitry Konovalov: biography

Dmitry Konovalov - Belarusian, who organized the terrorist attack inMinsk subway in 2011. He was also convicted of organizing explosions at the celebration of the Independence Day of Belarus and the terrorist attacks in Vitebsk in 2005. He was sentenced to death. The sentence is enforced.

Dmitry Konovalov was born in Vitebsk in 1986. His parents were engaged in education. He did not communicate with his grandparents, even though they lived nearby. In the summer after school usually stayed in the city.

Of great importance in his life played a passion for chemistry, which appeared in the 9th grade. He showed himself well in this subject, and even won at the Olympiads.

Having received secondary education, Dmitry Konovalov,the photo of which is in this article, received a reprieve from the army, since with a sufficiently high height of 182 cm he weighed only 68 kg. After devoting a year to idleness, he entered a professional technical school for a cutter. But soon he left school because he considered that the profession was too female.

He studied at the turner, but from there he was expelled for systematic drunkenness and absenteeism. In spite of the fact that he did not receive a diploma, he nevertheless got a job at a factory and mastered this profession already in the workshop.

First explosions

It is known that Dmitry Konovalov committed the first explosions back in 1999. Then he was 13 years old.

In 2000, together with a friend VladislavKovalev, convicted and executed along with him, organized more than a dozen explosions. They were even tried under the article "Petty hooliganism". More often than not, they installed explosives on the staircases of apartment buildings and near porches, causing damage to windows and doors.

Kovalev was his friend since childhood.They studied in the same class, and lived next door. Mostly communicated only among themselves. After school, the craving for explosions only intensified. Basically, they scooped information from the Internet. In 2004, they staged an explosion of improvised stretching near the Grishany railway station. Because of him, an occasional cyclist almost died.

In 2005, 19-year-old Dmitry Konovalov, together with Vladislav Kovalev, buried a metal can in a flower bed near the bus stop. She was stuffed with bolts and nails.

The same evening, they set off a bomb. It was rush hour, but by luck, only two passersby were injured.

The next time their crime got intooperational reports in 2008. They prepared for this explosion for at least a year. For this purpose, they specially came to Minsk. We studied the area around the stele "Minsk - Hero City", where President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was supposed to speak on Independence Day.

This time they placed the explosive device intwo two-liter juice packs. Dmitry Konovalov, whose biography turned out to be strongly connected with his passion for chemistry, collected a bomb so that there were no casualties, but there were a large number of wounded.

54 people suffered from the first explosion. Three were in serious condition. The second explosive device for unknown reasons did not work.

Konovalov and Kovalev committed their biggest terrorist attack in the capital’s Belarusian metro.

As a result of the explosion, 15 people were killed, 203 were injured.

Detention and trial

The young man was not married. The closest people in his life were parents. Dmitry Konovalov's family was amazed by what had happened, no one imagined what the guy was doing.

Immediately after the attack, the staff of the Belarusian KGBseized records of surveillance cameras. So they managed to find out that the suspect citizen lives near the Frunzenskaya metro station. First, he was monitored, and then the soldiers of the special forces held a detention.

When the security officers came to the apartment, which Konovalov rented together with Kovalev and his girlfriend Yana Pochitskaya, Dmitry immediately understood everything and with the words: “I’m caught,” he hid in the bathroom.

Konovalov accused of five articles of the CriminalCode. This is hooliganism, attempted crime, terrorism, trafficking in and manufacture of explosives, the deliberate destruction of property. The defendant admitted his guilt on all counts.

The prosecutor's office requested for Konovalov and Kovalevthe death penalty. In November 2011, both were sentenced to death. Konovalov refused to ask for pardon, and Kovalev wrote a petition. True, President Alexander Lukashenko rejected it anyway.

In March 2012, the sentence was carried out. Both terrorists were shot.
