In general, after talking with representatives of the United States, II realized that the citizens of this huge state have a very rough, and sometimes completely mistaken idea of what is happening in our country.
What do Americans think of Russians?Well, I would say that in general they think no more about the inhabitants of our state than about any other nation in the world. Although, of course, it should be noted that Russia, in view of the scale of its territories, has become an increasingly popular tourist destination in recent years.
Section 1. What Americans think about Russians. Where we live
However, in their mistaken opinion and geographicalilliteracy, the territory of Russia is a huge refrigerator, which is not just cold, but terribly cold. And, in general, the Americans believe that the words "Siberia" and "Russia" are simply synonymous.
Further more interesting:Ask one of them to name a few Russian cities. I am almost sure that you will hear back: Moscow, St. Petersburg, well, maybe Kazan and Kaliningrad. Although, probably, there is nothing to be surprised at, for now it is worth only going beyond the boundaries of large cities, as even we have the feeling that civilization, and with it high-quality roads, street lighting and common areas, simply end.
How are they really surprised when, finally, having been in Moscow, they understand that bears do not walk on Red Square. And the locals are not forced to earn a living by hunting, dressing in ugly sheepskin coats, hats with earflaps and felt boots.
What Americans think about Russians. What are we
Interesting and unusual. In general, it can be said that the attitude of Americans to Russians is rather ambiguous. For example, many consider us to be a very industrious nation, for which it’s simply unnatural to sit idle: men constantly make something, and women regularly do cooking or handicrafts.
Foreigners very often wonder howIn other words, we, who have a very modest salary, manage to dress so fashionably and stylishly, acquire the most expensive cars in the world, drive to luxury resorts and live in the most comfortable apartments. Russians are generous and love the holidays. Being on vacation or hosting guests, they are literally ready to share the latter. Americans consider borsch or cabbage soup, dumplings and red or black caviar to be the most favorite dishes of Russians.
Женщины одеваются красиво и элегантно, даже going shopping in a nearby supermarket. Men, on the other hand, are actively involved in sports, meet with friends and acquire cars of impressive size.
Но, тем не менее, к сожалению, за нами Glory to drink lovers and that is why Russian people in foreign literature and cinema are very often drunk and with a bottle of vodka. True, insulting?
What Americans think about Russians. Our compatriots in the USA
Coming to a permanent place of residence inAmerica, Russians, as a rule, try to adhere to their traditional way of life. They often go on a visit, give their younger ones to Russian-language kindergartens and schools, arrange plentiful feasts, rest on a grand scale, prepare food on their own, without succumbing to the temptations of fast-food restaurants.
Russian life in America is not alwaysdevelops as rosy as it may seem at first glance. Because of the language barrier, it is not immediately possible to find a well-paying job, to enter a university, or even go to a driving school.
In fact, the first years of living in the United States very much resemble running in a circle, many people return, only the most resilient and purposeful remain.
