Connoisseurs and connoisseurs of opera and classical musicmusic is well known name of Mikhail Petrenko. Heavy theatergoers, critics, an absolute majority of spectators enthusiastically speak about his performances. They say that the performance with his participation is a real holiday, and solo concerts, which, by the way, happen quite rarely - just happiness for the music lover!
Childhood and Youth
Mikhail Petrenko was born and studied in St. Petersburg. He sang from early childhood, but the road to success and worldwide fame was long and thorny. Not immediately appeared that elegant velvet bass, which is now awarded with the epithets "golden," "brilliant," "rolling," "deep," "exciting," "rich" ... But the talent of the opera singer, the vocalist was noticed in the music school. Then persistent studies at the Conservatory of St. Petersburg, honing technology, gaining mastery in the academy, preparing young singers to work at the Mariinsky Theater. And here is the first performance. Prokofiev, Semyon Kotko. As Mikhail later recalled, he was worried terribly. Straight knees trembled. But for him, the excitement to this day is divided into two categories: excitement-recovery and excitement-panic. The main thing is not to let yourself panic. In 1998, the young vocalist enlisted in the troupe, he became a soloist of the Mariinsky Theater.
The road to fame is a glorious road
Almost twenty years have passed since then, meetings, concerts - enough for two centuries! More than twenty roles performed only in the native theater! Of these, the famous Mephistopheles of Faust, King Mark and the King of Egypt, Philip II of Don Carlos and many others. Positive or negative characters - no difference! Deep, lively and sensual bass of Mikhail Petrenko makes the heart beat faster, empathize with what is happening on stage, sympathize with even the negative character! In an interview, the singer admitted that success on the stage consists not only of vocal talent. It is necessary also actor's skill plus charisma of the actor's personality. In each play, you have to carry emotions to the viewer, lay out your soul.
In 2004 the opera bass Mikhail Petrenko findspopularity abroad. He is invited to perform at the Berlin opera (Valkyrie), where the wonderful bass in the Hunding party did not go unnoticed. There are offers from Paris, New York, Milan, London, invite to the Bavarian state opera and many more prestigious places.
On the uncommon talent of a popular artistsays the film "Juan", based on the famous "Don Juan" Mozart, where he played the role of Leporello. For the first time the tape was shown in October 2010 and received rave reviews of film critics and art connoisseurs.
One-on-one with the listener
In addition to performances in the theater, Mikhail Petrenko gives solo concerts, working closely with Honored Artist of Russia Marina Mishuk, who is his permanent accompanist.
Solo performances of the famous bass ratherare rare. "I would like to meet with listeners more often. Make a solo program is much more difficult, and the time for preparation goes more. No comrades on stage, no support. But it's worth it, "says Mikhail.
For example, a concert solo program withromances Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, dedicated to the Chernobyl tragedy, held April 26, 2011 in Moscow, caused a great response among connoisseurs of cultural heritage. The repertoire of the performer is vast and very diverse in subject. From almost children's "My Lizochek is very nice" by P. Tchaikovsky to the most complicated and very serious works, such as the 9th Symphony by L. Beethoven in the arrangement for the voice. And Shostakovich's thirteenth symphony "Babi Yar", called "vocal confession", caused the brightest storm of emotions among listeners.
The singer brilliantly presents the works of M.Glinka, although he once said that Glinka is not easy to perform in the sense of technology, his music does not have pauses for rest. Although Mikhail spoke about the party in Ruslana, one can argue that this is one of the hallmarks of Glinka's vocal style. Filling the works with emotions, sometimes with violent drama, sometimes with subtle lyricism, showing amazing vocal technique, M. Petrenko brings to the famous melodies the uniqueness of the performance. Maybe that's why he was given the honor to play Ruslana at the opening of the historical stage of the Bolshoi Theater after the restoration in November 2011.
Competition - a step towards recognition
A story about an original talented opera singerPetrenko would be incomplete without mentioning various vocal competitions and festivals with his participation. Contests Placido Domingo and Elena Obraztsova, the Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Maria Callas, and opera festivals with his participation simply can not be counted! As Michael himself admits in one of the interviews, the winner did not become in any contest. Unfortunately. Indeed, indeed, without any doubt, worthy. Each time a small change prevented the notorious excitement, which "sometimes becomes a panic, and not a rise". But he became a laureate every time! Now Michael is in a new role. In June 2015, he became one of the members of the jury of the Tchaikovsky Vocal Competition.
