Irina Velembovskaya was born on February 24, 1922,in an intelligent family. Until nineteen she lived in Moscow. According to the memoirs of the writer, she already at an early age mastered the parent library: she read Ostrovsky, Gogol, Pushkin, Turgenev, Chekhov. My father was a lawyer by education, a first-wave Communist. Mother was in charge of a bookstore. Irina Velembovskaya's childhood was happy. However, in 1938, everything changed.

War

Irina Wielembovskaya worked for several monthsin hospital. This period she later reflected in her story "Marisha Ogon'kova". But soon the girl was arrested on ridiculous charges. Until the end of the winter of 1942, Velembovskaya was kept in the Lower Turin prison. Then she worked at one of the factories located in the Urals. She worked for a while both at the gold-platinum mine and at logging sites. "Forest history", "Minor", "More expensive than gold", "Larion and Barbara" - all these works reflect the events in the life of the author.

In 1944, the writer metprototypes of the heroes of their future novel "The Germans". The fate of this work, like its author, is not easy. The first part of the novel was published in the early fifties. Fully the work was published only twelve years after the death of Velembovskaya - in 2002.
