"Lethal Weapon" (the actors agree with thisstatement entirely) has the full right to be called a legend film, because, according to many leading filmmakers, it is this picture that largely determined the development of the action genre. It is known for certain that one of the cornerstones of the sub-genre is “buddy-movie”, that is, a movie in which there are two friends, a partner, connected by a real friendship. In Deadly Weapons, Australian Mel Gibson (Mad Max) and the little-known actor Danny Glover become such partners. For Glover, participating in this criminal action movie becomes a real breakthrough in his creative career. For the performance of the role of Roger Merto, the actor was awarded the Image Awards. In a recent media interview, Mel Gibson refuted the start of filming the next part of the film Lethal Weapon (the actors allegedly agreed to participate in the fifth episode), he said, no one can replace the magnificent Danny Glover, and yet the charm of all four episodes rests solely on his persona.
Old School in the best traditions
Despite the apparent secondary nature of the plotthe story, the thriller in 1987 "Lethal Weapon", whose actors are listed above, has achieved excellent results. All the key elements typical of the “police action movie” are skillfully used in it; an experienced director Richard Donner effectively creates tension in the whole plot action. A tough fight against criminal elements alternates with everyday, everyday scenes in which the viewer can appreciate the human qualities of the main characters. Actors Mel Gibson and Danny Glaver expressively and convincingly demonstrate the complex process of lapping completely dissimilar characters. After all, according to the idea of the creators, the hero of Mel Gibson - Los Angeles police officer Martin Riggs - is considered to be an ingrained psycho, clearly unbalanced. The hero could not cope with the consequences of the Vietnam War. His companions define calm, respectable and imperturbable guardian of the law, African-American Roger Merto, played by Danny Glover. With difficulty overcoming mistrust, cautiously and gradually the heroes reach an understanding, in parallel destroying the gang of Joshua, who trades in drug trafficking.
Part two
After the resounding success of the first part of the producerJoel Silver provided an opportunity for director-director Richard Donner and all those who took part in the creation of the first “Weapon”, in 1989 to continue the story about the new misadventures of brave cops from Los Angeles. Lethal Weapon 2 (actors: the same Gibson and Glover plus Joe Pesci, Derrick O’Connor, Joss Ackland) made in the same genre policy. Nevertheless, the authors did not go proven by creating a furious action movie with a dynamic action and exciting intrigue. This is all, of course, in the continuation, but the dialogues, which were distinguished in the first part by the darkly coarse American humor, saturated with slang, became in the second part more witty. It seems that in the film “Lethal Weapon 2” (the actors perceived this tendency more than positively) there is an invisible shadow of ridicule and undisguised irony. The main characters are still catching drug dealers, which this time are diplomatic ambassadors from South Africa.
Magic returns in 1992 Part 3
In the third part of the creators hit the vieweramazing special effects, difficult in the formulation of tricks, because by that time Richard Donner had the necessary experience after the Superman project. Lethal Weapon 3 (actors: the indispensable Glover, Gibson and Joe Pesci, as well as Stuart Wilson and Rene Russo) are not distinguished by original delights in terms of the script. Partners still stand guard over the rule of law, trying to get on the trail of an ex-police officer engaged in the illegal sale of confiscated weapons. The manner of plot narration is also full of rough and sharp jokes. The main characters, though already akin, already still tick and bicker with each other. Heroes fall into amazing bindings, look incredibly lucky people, whose invulnerability and survivability are the very "deadly weapon".
In 1998, all in the collection. Part 4

The return of Richard Donner played an important role. The antagonists are changing, but the heroes who are beloved by the viewer remain. The project involves not only two main stars, but also performers of other roles: the police captain and Leo, the Merto family. The watcher is awaited by the next portion of sharp humor, salty frazochka, skillfully interwoven with spectacular action scenes. The main characters have noticeably aged, but have not lost courage and dexterity. This time they will have to fight with Chinese drug traffickers, among other things, traffickers.
