The British group Yes was organized in 1968in London by John Anderson (vocals) and Chris Square (bass guitar). They were united by common views on the development of music in the style of "progressive rock", and both artists have already had some experience in
musical groups. The first lineup of Yes also included Peter Banks (guitar, vocals) and Bill Braford (drums). In 1969 the first album of the group, called Yes, was released. The work of young performers was highly acclaimed by music critics and awarded excellent reviews in Rolling Stone magazine. In this album, the band Yes included a very unusual version of the performance of the band The Byrds "I See You". Rolling Stone magazine noted a special musical style and refined taste in the performing skills of young musicians. In the second album, released in 1970, the group Yes used in the arrangements the sound of a symphony orchestra. In the UK, the band's compositions were very popular, but in other countries no one knew anything about Yes yet.
First success
Musicians tend to make the most oftheir creativity new technologies and update their composition. Guitarist Steve Howe and keyboard player Rick Wakeman come to the band. Yes has its own signature sound. New work - the album Close To The Edge, released in 1972, was the peak of the creativity of the group Yes. The album becomes gold, and the musicians begin triumphal tours of the United States. Despite commercial success, the musicians leave the group Yes in the following years, and its composition is constantly changing. In 1976, the group begins to cooperate with new producer R. Thomas Baker, who previously worked with Queen. New album Yes, which was released in 1977 under the name Going For The One, immediately took off to the top of the national charts, and in the United States took the eighth place. In subsequent years, the group begins to fever: new work does not accompany the former success, disagreements begin, and Anderson and Wakeman leave the group. Only in 1980, the Yes Group released again the successful Drama album. Subsequent concerts of Yes in Madison Square Garden collect an unprecedented full house. Despite this, the band is left by guitarist Howe, who is in the best line-up of Asia.
Group changes
The updated composition of the group Yes in 1983was released on album 90125, which immediately became platinum, and the single titled Owner Of A Lonely Heart won the first place in the American charts. Yes music moves away from art rock in the direction of pop music, which is not justified in the future. In the 90s, the songs of the group Yes are not well received,
concerts are canceled. For the first time after a long break for the fortieth anniversary of Yes, in 2008 it is planned to gather the best line-up and go on a world tour. But the tour had to be canceled due to severe illness of John Anderson. The rock band Yes went on a tour only in the US with a new vocalist Benoit David, and instead of Rick Wakeman, his son Oliver performed. Once again, the main line-up of the group Yes gathered in 2011 to record the album Fly from Here, the twenty-first in a row. This work was well received by fans of the group, and the musicians again go on a tour of North America. At these concerts, the songs from the three best albums of the group are completely performed: The Yes album, Close to the Edge and Going for the One. After the tour, the musicians announce that they intend to get together again in 2013 to work in the studio on a new album.
