UAZ "Patriot" is considered to be the real king of the Russian car industry. Nevertheless, this model has gone through a lot of changes and boasts a rich history.

Since the appearance of the UAZ "Patriot" 12 years have passed. Has the latest update of the model benefited, or only aggravated the “crisis of the genre” observed in the domestic automotive industry?
UAZ-3163 (namely, this designation modelreceived during the creation) was updated twice: in 2014, the car received an updated appearance and several improved configurations, and the restyling of 2016 concerned more internal changes and a small “trimming” of the exterior.
At the time of the SUV, in 2005,most of the future owners were already familiar with the capabilities of the car, and they were more interested in the indicator "fuel consumption per 100 km" from the UAZ Patriot and the price of the new model. The cost was surprisingly low, given the "fresh" appearance of the model. Therefore, the car immediately gained immense popularity. Fuel consumption per 100 km from the UAZ "Patriot" was significantly lower than that of previous models, which required about 17-20 liters for such a distance. This performance was decisive when a new car appeared.

Thanks to these innovations, the fuel consumption of the upgraded model from UAZ “Patriot” has decreased and they began to buy it with greater eagerness.
In 2014 cars, in addition to the updated appearance,convenience has appeared, designed to make the PBX salon more comfortable, spacious and suitable for movement. Among them: improved heated windows, rear view cameras, modern systems for playing music, separate climate control for passengers. Also, the traumatic handle for the passenger sitting in the front, which on serious potholes, didn’t save, disappeared, but on the contrary, helped to firmly attach itself to this very handle, and during an accident it was the subject No. 1, which created a threat to human life.

This auto update had just to thatthe period when the EU-Russia trade relations became completely bad, and free niches began to appear on the market, which UAZ decided to fill with the updated Patriot. Cars in 2016 received an updated grille, a new dashboard, adjustable steering column and an increased gasoline tank. Diesel engines disappeared from the line, only gasoline engines with a volume of 2.7 liters, giving out 134 hp, remained. Fuel consumption per 100 km in UAZ cars remained at the same level.
The new "king" of domestic SUVsclaims already caused less. But they were, and for the most part were directed to the well-known and completely outdated engine of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant of the model 40906. Yes, the motor pulls. Yes, quite good on bottoms. But to compete with the new Chinese, Korean engines he is no longer capable of. Asians, and the Europeans have stepped far forward, while UAZ, continuing to overcome the difficult impassability of its crisis, remained in place, and the engines of their cars almost did not modernize. This was an undeniable minus.
However, an economicalSUV UAZ "Patriot" 3163, whose fuel consumption was not more than 8 liters. At the same time the car consumed gas and gasoline. Such machines are not widely used, due to the small number of gas filling stations, but to this day the direction is very promising.
New models
Since 2014, car sales have decreased10%, which caused a wave of reductions in the factories producing cars. In 2017-2018, it is planned to downsize (decrease in volume, but maintain performance) of engines and their modernization, which is designed to reduce the amount of fuel consumed and make the operation of vehicles more profitable.
Thus, UAZ is planning to regain its place in the market and knock out a niche from Korean and French-made compact crossovers.
