History of the pond
Even before the discovery of America by Europeans, the lake is by no meanswas not deserted. Its shores were inhabited by numerous Aboriginal Indians. The largest was the tribe of the Vendates. Lake Huron has an extremely interesting geography.To begin with, in the modern world, it theoretically belongs to two states at once: the United States of America and (to them in the kit) Canada. On the one side of the coast are Michigan (that is, the land of the USA), on the other - they belong to Ontario, and this is Canada. Moreover, Lake Huron is also a natural monument, not only is it among the five "Great American Lakes", it also links three other bodies of water to the common system. Such unique lakes, perhaps, you will not find anywhere else on the globe. They are bordered (and they are contacted): Erie (it's in the south), Upper (north-west, St. Marys) and Michigan (it's already strictly in the west). And still you can not tell exactly where Lake Huron is, it's in Canada and the States.
Ecological situation
Sad, but not uniquethis place, or the fact that Lake Huron location is simply remarkable, did not save it from the fate of most of the rare corners of earthly nature. Since the 17th century Europeans have used this pond for processing wood and found minerals. Over the past nearly four centuries, the industry has caused virtually irreparable damage to Lake Huron. And in the 19th and 20th centuries metallurgy and pulp and paper enterprises joined the already "habitual" industries. These industries also require a considerable amount of water, and Lake Huron could give it to them. We can say that it was this that destroyed the rarest pond.
"A zone of concern"
The sad thing is that they do not just take a lakewater for industrial needs. In the end, the reservoir feeds on sources, which, at the very least, restore the water balance in it. The bad news is that wastewater is also being discharged into the lake, and it is precisely with this that the forces of the lake are not struggling to fight. So far, Lake Huron has not been declared a disaster zone, but some of its parts have already become a "concern zone". In its waters, the high content of "extra" bacteria, it became a container of toxic compounds and heavy metals. Some fish and shellfish disappeared from the relict lake, and all these signs scare even more if you remember where Lake Huron is. After all, it was preserved from the ice age, and there are not so many such places on Earth.
The situation is complicated by the fact that in the lakethere were new species of inhabitants, previously uncharacteristic of it. Among them, sea prickly flea and mussels (this is in a freshwater lake!). It should also be taken into account that Lake Huron is navigable, which not only affects the environment, but also reduces the tourist interest in the reservoir. And tourists are the main source of ecological maintenance of unique natural objects.
Species appeal
And such a sad situation is observed,that Lake Huron has an interesting landscape and great tourist opportunities. At least the fact that the area of Lake Huron is almost 60 thousand square km is already talking about its potential. And if you consider that this pond has a very winding coastline, due to which the length of the coast stretches for 6000 km (many believe that the coast is longer), then the tourist attraction of Lake Huron increases at times. It would be nice to take into account that the area of Lake Huron is literally dotted with islands suitable for recreation. It is even more interesting that most of these "oases" are populated, so tourists will not have problems with the infrastructure.
The struggle for salvation
Now the governments of both countries (recall, andUSA, and Canada are "responsible" for Lake Huron) are making joint efforts to restore the ecological value of the second largest lake from the Big Five. Fish broods are being launched, control over discharges is being strengthened at working plants, and shipping is being restricted. However, according to experts, such efforts are few. You need something more radical to revive the lake, which was saved from the ice age. Ideally, it is better to close all industrial enterprises on the banks of Huron. However, as we all understand, this is impossible. Therefore, there is a dying of something unique, because too little money is allocated for its preservation and maintenance.
Both Americans and Canadians believe that ifthere is not enough money or time for a vacation trip (for example, to the Seychelles or a resort in the Dominican Republic), then Huron will successfully replace all these options. And in the memory of the whole family for many years will remain the quaint beaches, unusual islands and gentle waters of this amazing lake.
