Named after the holiday, also known asDay Angel. It is timed to the day of the memory of the saint, whose name is a man. This saint, according to church tradition, is the heavenly patron for him and for all who are named after him. Thus, it turns out that this is a purely Christian or even only Orthodox (partly Catholic) tradition, since the Protestant churches do not recognize the veneration of saints. Therefore, for everyone who is not an Orthodox Christian (or Catholic), such a holiday does not exist. In this article we will give a list of saints who are the patrons of the people by the name of Egor.
About Name Day
Name days are associated exclusively with the namewho have given birth to the infant in the mystery of baptism. Accordingly, an unbaptized person cannot celebrate this day, no matter what name it bears. At the same time, the naming in the font does not just happen, but in honor of a saint who becomes a special intercessor before God, as Orthodox Christians believe. In the future, change the church name and, therefore, the patron saint can not. The only exception is monastic tonsure, in which a person takes a new name.
The date of the birthday after baptism will be the dayin which according to the church calendar they honor the memory of the saint. Of course, many of them were called the same in life. Therefore, choosing a specific name, you can choose the saint who wore it. If a person was baptized as a child, and there was no information left in honor of which particular saint he was called, they do the following: they find the saint of the same name closest to the person’s birthday in the fair calendar. He will be considered a birthday. But if you want to choose some specific person, to which there is a particular sympathy, then you can do so, ignoring the formal procedures.
