The Academic Youth Theater (Rostov-on-Don) begins its history in the 19th century. Today, his repertoire is diverse, wide and designed not only for children and youth, but also for adult audiences.
About the theater
The first theater in Rostov appeared at the end of 19century. For him immediately was built his own building. The scene was pretty big. The auditorium consisted of three tiers and could accommodate up to 700 spectators. When building in the upper parts of the walls (under the ceiling), amphorae were embroidered with necks down. This provided excellent acoustics.
In 1929, anotherTheater - Working Youth. He occupied this room for only a few months. Then the building was given under the newly opened Theater for Young Spectators, which was founded by the director A. Nesterov.
In the postwar years, the theater was occupied by the Comedy Theater.He experienced reorganization on several occasions. The first happened in 1957. Then the theater turned into a Youth Drama Theater named after the Leninist Komsomol. The second reorganization took place in 1964. The Drama Theater has turned into a Theater for Young Spectators.
In 1983, its building underwent a large-scale reconstruction. As a result, its area increased, new premises appeared, make-up rooms, two new stages.
After the reconstruction, the theater opened up fresh.In his repertoire there were performances that did not fit into the format of the Theater for Young Spectators. As a result, the troupe made the public not only of our country, but also of the foreign countries.
In 1997 the Youth Theater received the honorary title of Academic. And in 2001 he experienced another reorganization, and since then is called the Youth Theater of Rostov-on-Don.
Today the troupe actively participates in festivals and goes on tour.
In each season the Youth Theater of Rostov-on-Don offers its spectators at least 20 performances. And 5-6 of them are necessarily premieres.

Projects
Not only its productions are interesting for the Youth Theater (Rostov-on-Don). His poster, in addition to performances, offers to visit various projects. They are very interesting, and they should be noted.
One of the projects is called "Theatricalreading. "The name speaks for itself: it's a theatrical readings of works that are part of the school curriculum on literature." The project of the "Youth" actor - Nikolai Khanzharov came up.
"Theater readings" take place at least once a month. In the program works for different ages.
Another project is the "Theater Club".In its framework there are various meetings and evenings, at which the actors of the troupe perform. Those who have a ticket for a performance that has already taken place or will be shown soon are free to attend events.
Since 2011, there is a project called"Experimental platform." It was created in order to support and promote the talented and young theater groups in the region. Within the framework of the project, they receive a unique opportunity to express themselves. Young collectives (state, private, professional, amateur, school, etc.) show their performances on the stage of the Youth Theater. And after the shows there are discussions about the productions, where there are also spectators who can express their opinions.
Since 1989, the Youth Theater has been conductingInternational festival "Minifest". Performances created for children and youth audiences take part in it. For the years of existence of this festival, its guests were theatrical companies not only from different cities of Russia, but also from other countries.
In addition to all of the above, the Youththere is another project, it's called "Laboratories". In its framework, experienced directors from other cities, come to the Youth Theater to demonstrate their skills.
