"Opel Record" is the name of the West Germancar, which was produced a very long time, namely - in the period from 1957 to 1986. At that time, buyers could purchase both a mid-size and full-size version of this car. Today, too, you can find this car, only with great difficulty. This is already a legend of the world famous German concern.

A bit of history
It should be said that in the model range "OpelRecord "occupied an intermediate position. It was something average between the models Kapitän and Kadett. And both in performance and size. By the way, it is worth noting that before the release of this model there was a car called Olympia Rekord. Something from This car was borrowed in the process of developing a newer car, the Opel Record.
Many generations have been released this car.For a more convenient presentation, they even decided to use internal indices (A, PII, PI, and so on). Today, these designations are generally accepted.
And in 1953, the release of the OpelRecord ". For all the time of production, it was possible to sell about fifty hundred eighty thousand cars. At that time it was a solid indicator, and, I must say, Opel really met the expectations placed on it.
First generation
What can be said about the very first generation of OpelRekord? Perhaps the first thing worth noting is that it was a product of very thorough processing and modernization of the notorious Olympia. What changes have occurred? First, the body has changed - it has become more. Panoramic windows appeared, plus the whole car was endowed with shiny decorative elements. All this was somewhat reminiscent of the GM model, produced at that time by the American concern Chevrolet. Interestingly, in many markets, the car of the first generation was sold under the brand Buick. And he did refer to the aforementioned Chevrolet.
Up until 1959, this car was produced in twocomplete sets. The first - the base, the second - with an improved design. Well, in terms of technical characteristics, these were absolutely identical cars.

Further production
After the first generation, the Opel Rekord began.the release of a new model with an improved 1.2-liter engine for forty horsepower (now, of course, this figure is very small, but at that time it was a good motor). Such a car cost about six thousand German marks. Soon, this model was upgraded, and manufacturers gave the car electric wipers (before that, conventional pneumatic machines were installed on the car), and the dashboard received a new soft upholstery. It was made for security purposes. Also moved the ignition switch. This is done for the safety of the motorist's knee. And in the same period began to produce a four-door sedan.
Interestingly, in the early 1960s, the concern Autenrieth began, on the basis of the Record P1, to produce versions of cabriolets, as well as coupes, which were the most popular.

Other generations
After there were other models. For example, Rekord P2. It has become more unlike its predecessor, besides, manufacturers have added a pick-up body to the line. Work was also carried out on the design of the car "Opel Record." The photos show a rather stylish car in the 1960s. The model has changed significantly, and, what pleases, all that resembled American designs of that time disappeared from its image. From what can be noted attention, - a flat roof and the increased sizes. Due to this, by the way, it turned out to make the car more comfortable. The model is not only outwardly larger - the inside is also more spacious.
Then two-door sedans began to appear, andthen the manufacturers released the lux version L, which was equipped with an engine for 1,680 cubes. The motor was endowed with sixty horsepower. And later in these cars began to install a four-speed manual gearbox.

1970s edition
After more than ten years of continuous productiona new generation of Opel Record cars has been released, the technical specifications are even better than those of previous cars. There was a new body, and it was a four-door station wagon. Potential buyers were offered a fairly extensive line of engines - both 1500 and 1700, as well as 1700S, 1900 and S2200.
It is worth noting that this generation (that is, the fifth)It was the most popular, purchased and successful in commercial terms in the history of this brand. Managed to sell about 1,300,000 copies! And all because these cars were reliable, stylish and, importantly, had a spacious interior, which was conveniently accommodated both the driver and passengers. Plus, at the time there was a sports modification with an installed exclusive engine for as much as 106 horsepower! Due to this motor, the car, released under the name Record Sprint, could accelerate to a speed of 174 km / h. For the 1970s, this was simply an unreal figure.

Rekord II - the generation that completed the production
"Opel Record", which used tuningvery popular, continued to be published, only in other versions. The Record II line became popular - the cars were endowed with quite powerful engines. They all had four cylinders. There was also a version with a 2.1-liter diesel engine. Subsequently, modifications with six cylinders began to appear, except that they were soon carried out with a separate model.
Well, completed the release of a large series of "Record"car, produced under the marking E. Sold a lot of copies were - about one million. This car even today looks pretty modern, and the characteristics are not so bad. There are even versions with an automatic transmission. In general, over the years, manufacturers have produced more and more modern cars. And it is not surprising, because with the improvement of technology, the automotive world has become better.
After the release of this generation of productionwas closed. But even now, with great luck, you can find a used Opel Record of the 1980s. On average, its price today is about 80 thousand rubles. And if you carry out some work and make tuning, you’ll get the car in a great view.
