It was a station wagon built on the Delta platform and executed in retro style. According to the designers, when creating sketches for a new car, they took as an example the appearance of Chevrolet cars that were produced in the middle of the last century. A vivid confirmation of this can be called wide wings and a specific radiator grating. Two years after the debut, four Chevrolet HHR modifications appeared, namely Special Edition, LS, LT and 2LT. Among other things, was created and the cargo version of the body in the form of a van. Now the car is successfully sold in the North American market.
Seats have unobtrusive lateral support andcan be adjusted for different growth. The rear seats can easily accommodate three adults. The volume of the trunk is 542 liters. It can be increased to 1817 liters by folding the seats. There are salons and minuses: the seats are very close to the doors, which is not very convenient. In addition, the manufacturer for some reason did not provide a comfortable armrest here, which causes some discomfort when you want to lean on something.
The first trip to Chevrolet HHR proves,that the car is characterized by practicality, smooth running and good handling, not to mention the unique appearance. The model has an excellent suspension and a balanced chassis. As for the power plant, there are two variants of this. The first of them uses a 142-strong V-shaped engine with a volume of 2.2 liters. The second engine has a volume of 2.4 liters and a capacity of 175 "horses". It should be noted that both units consist of four cylinders and consume a little less than 10 liters of fuel per hundred.
The automatic box here deserves a separatepraise. The fact is that the gearshift in it is carried out so smoothly and imperceptibly that the driver can determine this moment only by observing the arrow of the tachometer. Slowdown of the car when discharging gas also passes smoothly and without jerking.
In autumn 2006 representatives of GMannounced the appearance of an updated version of the Chevrolet HHR. As previously it was supposed, the model appeared in 2008, and the name "SS" was added to its name. The manufacturer has installed here a brand-new two-liter engine with a turbine that is capable of developing 260 horsepower. It works paired with a 4-speed automatic or 5-step mechanics. In addition, the car received a sports suspension, a more aggressive body kit and radiator grille, as well as 18-inch wheels. Chevrolet HHR SS is capable of reaching speeds of 100 km / h in just 6.3 seconds. The cost of the car in the US market is about 25.5 thousand euros.
